So, I think my little shorthair kitty has a small problem with hairballs. Approximately once a month. I don't know if that's even considered a problem, but that's just way too often for my liking.

I brought this up to my vet. She recommended Hairball management food (ie. Science Diet Hairball). There lies the problem: I'd rather she stay on her *mostly* canned diet (she also has grain-free kibble when I'm just feeling too lazy). I don't want to increase her dry food intake (especially with something like Science Diet).

I had purchased a Furminator (will be here in a few days) to start brushing her with. But would like some insight on dietary management of hairballs.

Food with higher fiber? Blue Buffalo recently came out with a Weight Control Wilderness kibble. It's grain-free, but has 8% fiber, which is higher than some of the Hairball foods I've looked at. On a side note, add a fiber source to her canned?

Cat Grass? My cat does like eating our potted wheat grass (which is apparently the same as cat grass). Maybe that's her own way of trying to medicate herself?

Laxatone/Petromalt? My cat is a pain to get meds in. I'd rather not go this route.
