why will cat eat food from your fingertips, but when you put the bowl down in front of them they turn their nose up at it and walk away?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

. Panda my DLH is notorious for doing the behavior you described. I just think in my cats case she thinks she is getting a treat instead of her regular diet/meal.Or it could simply be Panda feels I am here slave and I need to hand feed her

Don't know either. Something similar: Ritz will meow and meow around dinner time, so I give her some food, and she still meows and meows. So sometimes I'll sit down beside her and her food, and THEN she'll eat. Go figure....

Holland is the opposite. If I offer her a treat from my hand she'll sniff it and WILL eat it if I don't drop it, but 9 times out of 10 once she takes it she'll drop it on the floor and sniff at it again before she eats it.
Maybe my cat doesn't trust me...

Parker loves to eat from my hand...but I can't let him because I don't think he realizes how big his mouth/teeth really are, so I get bit.
Buddy will eat from hands, floors...a piece of paper...it doesn't matter.
Sami won't eat from anyone's hands. It HAS to be set down in front of her.

I've had that sometimes, too! I think they like the company a bit, and also trust that you aren't just handing over something bad for them if you hand it to them yourself. I'm really not sure, though!
