My cousin posted on her facebook page that one of her daughters (a vet btw) living in Madison, WI will be reunited with her cat who has been missing for 23 months.

"Don't know he was turned in as a stray...oh course he must have gotten his tail caught in a trap or something and it was infected and needed to be amputated so that cost a few buck so maybe the people that had him didn't want to spend the money and decided to turn him in????Guess we'll never know.."

He was microchipped and that is how they reconnected.

I'll post more when I find out more information!

oh wow, that's a great story! I want to hear more!

I think it should be mandatory that vets check for microchips for any new cats that comes in. That's my worry.. if Monet ever gets out, how would I know he'd be checked for a microchip unless he was taken to a shelter?

I am so glad your cousin's daughter's cat is coming home!!

What a happy ending, love it!
The shelter I foster for makes microchips mandatory and I think they're a great thing!

I agree! That's the whole point of chipping them, so if they get lost they can be recovered easier.

That's wonderful that he's coming home! I hope his tail is alright.
