Not a problem, just curious!

Does anyone else have a cat that seems 'obsessed' or 'in love' with them?

My 11yr old little girl Cricketa has always been ridiculously close to me. However it seemed to grow stronger when I moved out on my own and she came with me. She lives with 3 other kitties and me.

What she does, is adorable. She likes giving me 'kisses' and she never does to anyone else. She does it when I am sitting on my recliner or in bed. She comes up, paw out kneading in mid air and then she sometimes 'pets' me with her paw. Then she will advance forward and COVER my lips and around my eyes with little gentle licks. Usually its just a few, but every once in a while like today, she comes up and is obsessive about kissing me. She like frantically almost licks me while purring super loud and she follows my head if I move it to kiss me more. Then she settles down on me, paws over shoulder and body on chest. She keeps purring and every so often will tilt her head back to push the top of her head against my cheek, and if I look down I get more kisses. Its so sweet! Can anyone think of why she does this?

BTW, not sure if it has to do with this...but I helped her mom give birth to her and was there everyday at my friends to play with and love her. So she has literally known me since she opened her eyes.

Me and Cricketa:

I think she is just a particularly demonstrative cat. Some cats will show their affection by just casually sitting in the same room with you; others will climb into your lap and go to sleep; others, like yours, will make it really, really obvious how much they like you. She's just got a really dramatic personality, I guess!

The pushing her head against you thing is a typical cat thing--they rub cheeks against each other to exchange scents and mark each other as part of their clans. My cat Tiny does that every day after I take my shower, rubbing against me to get me to smell right again! I bet your cat knows that the head-bump is a sign of affection, and is putting a lot of energy behind it because she feels very enthusiastic. I guess she's just one of those cats that's got a lot of energy for everything, including cuddling with their human.

Sounds like she REALLY loves you though. Take it as a compliment! I get thrilled when my cat sits on my lap, never mind giving me tons of kisses. You're lucky to have her.

My 6 month old male kitten is the same with me, except he bites, and sometimes quite hard. To be honest at first I thought he hated me, but after reading your post, seeing you have similar problems. I just need to get him to stop biting. x

Agreed! Nothing unusual/worrisome about this behavior; she just seems to really enjoy your companionship and wants you to know it. Maybe she sees you as her human littermate, of sorts. The sweetest cat I ever had used to give me a "face cleaning" like this when I was sick or tired enough to stay in bed for any length of time.

Makes for a cute story, though!
