Mom was really into gardening, as I am.

Last night, I stumbled upon a variety of morning glory seeds called "Joyce Cobb" (mom was named Joyce). (I was searching "Joyce" to find other things to buy to honor her; it's amazing what one can find on eBay!)

I had already bought "Grandpa Ott" morning glory seeds last year, and forgot about them. Dad's nickname was Ott.

To make it even better, birds, bees, butterflies (and I suppose hummingbirds) love the flowers (some of you may remember my hummingbird posts; I updated one today, BTW, so please check it out). I've been trying to get the hummingbird garden started, but it's been raining a lot. I have the plants; I just need to dig up the ground, edge, it, and plant the stuff. For my birthday, MIL let me choose a beautiful metal trellis that has a motif of birds and butterflies, so this will go there. Of course, all of the bird feeders, not just the hummy feeders, will be there, as well. It's under the bay window in the living room, so I can observe it better.

I think it's a fun way to honor someone, especially a married couple--the morning glories will be planted together, to intertwine up the trellis.

I also found mini irises named "Joyce." Those will be planted in the Fall.

Has anyone else done this for a loved one--found plants with their names, and planted them in honor of them?
