Tips for bathing Persian

My friend posted pictures in FB after bathing his Persian. His arms are scarred with cat scratches. I think it happens everytime he bathes the cat. I have a feeling he is doing something wrong.
I've bathed cats (all short haired) and all I experienced was lots of meowing.
If anyone has tips that will help my friend, please share them. Thank you!

As long as the kitty doesn't get into anything that needs to be washed out and the friend keeps the kitty brushed, he shouldn't need to bathe him.

Thank you and I agree with you.
I also suggested to my friend to use cat wipes when he thinks his Persian is "dirty".

Persian cats really do need baths. Mine have to be bathed at least monthly they might go 5 weeks with out a bath but no longer. They should be bathed starting as kittens and usually the get used to it mine always have.
They do not like the sound of the water filling up the tub that scares them So tell you friend to have the water all filled and shut off before bringing the cat into the bath room. Be gentle and don't have the water to warm..Rinse them very well . Mine are used to baths so I can rinse them under gentle running water
If his cat does dig and scratch I know some people that have persians put on a rain coat or leather coat as the cat can't dig through it.
. Many people think as cats grooms themselves they don't need a bath not true for persians they require baths.

Thank you very much! Now I know a bit more about this beautiful breed. Will tell my friend. The rain coat thing might surprise him.

I vote for taking the kitty to the groomers.

Actually he did. The groomer's arm got shredded.
