Juno came home from the shelter with the "shelter crud." I isolated her for a week and a half before bringing her in. When she came inside, her sneezes were almost gone. Now, she is sneezing MORE. I rang the vet and dh is bringing home an antibiotic for Juno.

So... please send healing for Juno...

But also, please send for Blue that he doesn't get this! I know if he even so much as sneezes, we are heading to the vet (she told me she would give him stronger antibiotics to try to kick it before it gets hold of him).

Thanks!!

Oh, no! I know quite intimately how you feel trying to do a good thing and running into the possibility your action may have made the kitty you're already responsible for ill.
It's the primary reason I stopped fostering this past December.

Many vibes and "stay-strong" thoughts!

Poor thing...sending lots of vibes that Juno feels better soon and that Blue doesn't catch it!

What is L-lysine and where do I get it?

The vet is treating her with an antibiotic because she was getting better then started getting worse again. Vet thinks it went to a secondary bacterial infection.

Ok, I'be been having trouble replying, this is my third attempt.

IMO the best is NOW powder. Less additives (no binders), and easily absorbsble. It helps the immune system fight herpes virus, and can help with URIs. We give 250 mg (half teaspoon) daily as maintenance, 500 mg during flare-ups, split into am and pm doses. But that is for a cat that is at least 7 pounds, so good for Blue I assume, but I don't know about Juno.

It's tasteless, and even our picky eaters eat wet food with it mixed in.

Easiest to buy it online.
Vitamin places, amazon, etc, easy to find, just look for whoever currently has best price.

Of course, if you want to get going right away, any pharmacy that carries supplements should have it. Just look for the one with the least fillers, and crush the tablet between 2 spoons.

Thanks! I found it on Amazon and ordered some. Blue is 9 pounds and finally gaining his weight back!
Juno is 5 pounds and growing fast. She is not my worry though. To see her playing and running like a crazy girl, you would never know she was sick. Blue is my worry because of his age and his other health issues (just had cancer removed, has thyroid problems, and just general old age).

OMG, I just realized I wrote the wrong teaspoon information! I looked at the one I used this morning: I'm using 1/2 of 1/8 teaspoon am and pm for maintenance. I checked the bottle - 500mg (well, technically 552mg) is 1/4 teaspoon, not one teaspoon!

1/4 teaspoon (500mg) is for flare-ups; half of that is for maintenance.

Sorry about that!

Oh, thanks for correcting then. It hasn't gotten here yet, so no harm done.

Juno is on the mend and sneezing is almost gone now anyway...no one else has gotten sick! Thanks goodness!
