I just got the new Cat Fancy magazine in. Found a recipe for Basic Kitty Cookies, I might try it. Thought I'd post it incase anyone else wants to try it:

1/2 cup high-quality dry cat food.
1 cup all-purpose flour.
1/2 teaspoon salt.
1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
1 large egg.
1/4 cup beef broth.
1/4 cup flower, for rolling out treats.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients, mixing well.
3. Add the egg and beef broth, mixing well.
4. Sprinkle the remaing 1/4 cup flower on a breadboard. Roll out the dough in the flour until it's 1/4 inch thick.
5. Use a 1 inch cookie cutter to cut out the cookies.
6. Place the cut-out cookies on a greased cookie sheet.
7. Score all cookies with a sharp knife, creating a + on each cookie.
8. With a spoon, carefully drip a few drops of beef broth on the top of each cookie.
9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the bottoms of the treats are just turning golden brown.
10. Remove from the oven, let cool thoroughly and store in an airtight container.
11. Serve as a 1 inch cookie or break each cookie into 4 pices along the scored lines.

Makes 35 1 inch cookies.

I bet they're neat cookies.....hmmmm, wonder if my kids would eat them. Thanks!

Did you ever try Cool Claws....ice cream for cats? My kids love them. I'll break two of them into 3 pieces and give one piece to each cat. I haven't tried them with Tabitha yet. But the other guys really enjoy their Cool Claws. Our grocery store sells them, along with the Frosty Paws for dogs.

Those sound yummy! I'm sure my kids would either hate them or love them.

Ok I tried the kitty cookies. Neither cat liked them

Luna just looked at me and her whiskers drooped

Midnight took a piece and spit it out onto the floor. He backed away from it. He did the sideways hop back over to it. Then he backed away and wouldn't come back until I got rid of the piece on the floor

Based on that kitty test, I'll save myself the time and effort. Instead I'll make myself some chocolate chip cookies!

I've tried making homemade pet treats and food in the past, neither went over big. At one time I tried cooking a renal diet for one of my cats, but she absolutely refused to eat the food. So I went back to bought.
