That's it cynder is going to the vet this afternoon. I hope... Just not eating what he should be and turning his nose at everything. Something is wrong I feel it.. Guess hubby will have to take him as I am at work till 7pm tonight. I'm sure he won't be too happy bout that one but this little guy is not eating like he was 2 weeks ago and this is not good
its weird he has had his shots and deworming meds, i just hope its not a blockage or worse... He did have cat lice but he is on advantage for that, but he just doesn't want to eat really... Please send good vibes for cynder everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok he just ate bout half of a 3oz can of FF (yuck) but at least he ate.. I put a little parmesaen cheese over it and he walked away but 15 min later he ate what was there,so i put some more down with the cheese same thing 15 min later he ate a bit more so for now i will cancel the vet app,as they were squeezing him in and don't want them to get mad,but if he goes back to not eating a whole lot then come the weekend i will take him in I feel a little relieved that he ate more than what he has been eating, someone said maybe hes constipated so i know its bad but gave him a little lap of milk to see if thats what it is... thank you all for listening, i have been posting alot of questions on here in the last few days and I'm probably driving people nuts

I think maybe he's just being a picky little kitty and that he'll be just fine.
Sometimes us kitty mommies worry too much about our babies.

You have to also remember that kittens have Very small tummies, so if he is eating only a bite or two at a time, but coming back for more later that is perfectly normal.

If he's not pooping you can give him some canned plain pumpkin to help him out.

thank you for the suggestions minka he is pooping but i thought omg he has a blockage cuz he has been kinda mewing before he decides to poop, but he poops and its not like rock hard or pebbly. maybe he is just a picky eater or maybe the advantage i gave him a few days ago threw his appetite off... who knows but i will pick up some more ff for him and keep trying and watching what he does.. i think im just worried cuz he so young still and it says that kittens should be eating about 3 3oz cans of wet a day and he is definatley not eating that but he is eating.. i will keep you posted...

A blockage is exactly that, a blockage; so if he is pooping, he is not blocked.

Sometimes kittens are silly are meow when they poop, and as long as he doesn't strain when he's going I wouldn't worry about it.

If you have a Petsmart near you, I would aim for something a bit better than Fancy Feast like Iams or Authority. Just keep adding the Parmesan to it to make it nice and tasty.

I had a cat that meowed when he pooped. It was really funny after we spent a small fortune at the vets to find out that he just liked to sing in the bathroom.

I'm glad Cinder is eating. It seems some kitties are picky. Kairi is one of them too. Also, if he is pooping, he's eating!!

That's a great update! I'm so glad he's back to eating, even if it's just a few bites.

It's good you're keeping him on canned food - that will definitely help ensure he doesn't get constipated or come down with a urinary tract issue.

Now you can start experimenting a bit to see what other things will tempt him to eat, and add in more flavors. Another tip I forgot to mention in my other post is to crumble Temptation treats with a spoon and sprinkle it over the canned food. There's something in those treats that really gets a lot of kitties going, so maybe it'll work for Cynder, too. (By the way, I've been meaning to mention - that's a very cool name!)

<<<Hugs>>> for the scare! I know just what that's like.

Yes those Whisker Temptation cat treats work wonders. My very very very picky DLH Panda loves them. It is the only thing she will always eat
.

Anyway another suggestion is to warm up the wet food before feeding it to Cinder. Cats in general like there food warm. So that might help, if you use a microwave make sure to check the food for hot areas with your finger. Before feeding it to the cat.

I love the name Cinder as I named a foster black smoke domestic long hair that name
.

so hubby gave him some choices today. wet,dry and milk (i know the milk isn't good) so he went for the dry and ate quite a bit
but no wet... and he is pooping. can someone answear me a question: how much dry should he eat in one feeding a day,and how much wet should he eat in one feeding a day. im very confused on the bb dry kitten it says 1/3 to 1/2 cup, so is that total throughout the day or is that one feeding ex like i feed him at 8:30am so would he eat 1/3 to 1/2 cup for that feeding or is that divided between the 4 meals of the day??? I'm confused about this....

I would think 1/3 to 1/2 cup a day (24 hour period) would be good for a picky eater
. No really 1/3 to 1/2 a cup a day is fine. Try not to worry so much.

As far as the wet food goes all I can say is the best nutrition is no good if the cat will not eat it. So try and relax.

Lastly if you are very worried about him eating dry food maybe try a very high quality dry food like Evo. Here is the website:http://www.evopet.com/ .

i have bb wilderness canned but all of a sudden he doesn't like it... so SERIOUSLY a 1/3-1/2 cup A DAY is enough for a growing kitten of 13 weeks.. I just thought they would eat way more, well he was eating way more bout a week ago hmmmmmm maybe i am worrying to much!!! just shocked at how little that is for a growing kitten.. at least he is on bb kitten kibble which is high quality.

I thought it was already said, but for a growing kitten, he can eat as much as he likes. Once he is full grown, 1/3-1/2 cup per day is enough.

so should i just let him free feed on the dry then? as that seems like the only thing he wants to eat right now???

I think the diet (brands of wet and dry) you are feeding your kitten are just fine. I really think you are on the right track and should just try and relax a little

I hope you understand none of us are veterinarians and none of us own your cat. So it is really up to you and a veterinarian you trust to decide what is best for your cat.

We all have different opinions on what is best for a cat. But I feel the best nutrition is no good if the cat will not eat it.

So in your case I would leave out a high quality dry food for your kitten since that is what the cat wants to eat. Or mix wet and dry if I really wanted the cat to eat wet food. But it is up to you not anyone else since this is YOUR CAT
!
