Chasing Da Bird...
I came home about 2 hours ago. I gave Kairi his food, one can of wet, some moistened dry and he ate half the can, and a few pieces of dry, and drank the water.
he played afterwards for a bit, then curled up in my sons football shoulder pads (his favorite sleeping place) and went to sleep for awhile. I went upstairs to do some laundry, and my kids started yelling-Kairi had walked into the kitchen and meowed funny, so my son picked him up and cradled him. Kairi then vomited UPWARDS onto my sons face and shirt. My daughter grabbed him as my son went reeling backwards and the kitten scratched her and went into the living room, got onto the couch and went to sleep.

I came running downstairs, Kairi was curled up on the couch, he looked at me with squinty eyes, (no 3rd eyelid or anything, just tired looking) and he went to sleep. I cleaned up the floor, the vomit was just clear water with a few chewed up pieces of dry food. He's still sleeping, and seems to be feeling better, he has since cleaned himself a bit then stretched and went back to sleep.
I wonder if he just ate too much or drank too much water? I wonder if my son picking him up would make him throw up if he had a belly full of water?

if he's not feeling better in an hour, I'm going to take him to the vet. He gets so stressed by the carrier, I don't want to stress him any more unless necessary.
My son keep apologizing for picking him up, but it's not his fault. Of course you pick up the kitten.

Oh poor Kairi! And poor your son!!!!

Was it a kind of "moaning" meow? Like a weird crying? Lazlo always does this before he throws up or regurgitates, whatever the cause.
I'm so sorry this happened to your son, but in the future, if he hears that, best to let kitty be. I know he thought he was comforting him because he probably sounded unhappy.
But if he's like our Laz, that's a warning something's about to come up.

With kitties, it could be so many things. How old is Kairi? Isn't he like only two months? Since he stresses so easily in the carrier, I'd give it until the morning. He might have eaten a bug, eaten his food too fast, drunk too much water, or too much water too fast...

I doubt very much your son picking him up made him throw up. I suspect he wailed/howled/whatever his funny meow was BECAUSE he was about to throw up.

It was a moaning looooong meow. Kairi is 10 weeks, and eats like a beast. I guess it probably was a warning.

He did scoff up the canned food then the water like it was his first meal in a week. I hope it was just indigestion. My poor little man.

My son keeps sitting next to him and looking upset. Poor kid had a stressful morning, now the cat throws up on his face, and he thinks it's his fault. He needs an ice cream or something.

Thanks so much. I think I'm breathing again.

Tell your son it most definitely is not his fault. Some kitties make that moaning sound before they throw up. It's like when you a little kid, and you holler "MOM, I'm going to vomit!" It's just with cats, until they do it, you don't know. Now you do, and any time you hear it, best to leave kitty be. Or get a paper towel underneath the direction his mouth is pointing.

oh your poor son!!! Yes, as Laurie said, tell him the kitty was going to vomit anyway, it was just a timing thing.
Poor Kairi just ate too much, too fast, and then drinking alll of that water. One can might be too much at once, even half a can, if it is five ounces. Try smaller, more frequent meals, one ounce four times a day and you can mix in a tiny bit of dry. That is how much I fed my kittens last year. Playtime before he eats. After he eats, naptime
. Your a good meowmy
! Kairi sounds like a good eater who loves his food, he just needs smaller portions! It was like eating a huge Thanksgiving dinner And drinking a gallon of water.

This morning, Kairi is feeling good! Bugging me for food and cuddles.
My son read the posts and feels better now. Thanks so much.

I felt so bad for both the boys last night. One icky and one feeling bad. Looks like today will be better!
Now for more coffee!

Aw great news!!!!!!
I'm glad both boys are feeling better!

I haven't had any coffee this morning. Still a little gun shy after the Flowerbelle-coffe-dump-on-my-laptop incident the other day. Of course - I'm barely awake.

I can't function in the morning without it. My husband calls me an addict.

My name is Elle and I'm a coffeeholic. I've been clean 35 minutes.

Kairi is of course acting like he's an espresso drinker.
He's climbing everything he can.
