Rabies Cases On The Rise In South Jersey

by KYW's Ed Kasuba
Health department officials don't know why the number of rabies cases has increased.

All they know is there are more cases.

15 Burlington County residents have had to undergo the series of rabies shots because of their possible exposure to a rabid animal.

Freeholder Dawn Marie Adiago has this advice:

"We would also encourage people to please keep your distance -- their distance -- from any wild animals that are -- or especially stray animals and unfamiliar dogs and cats. Please report them. We are also encouraging them not to bring any wild, stray, or unfamiliar animals into their homes for any reason."

Most South Jersey towns offer free rabies vaccinations when a pet is licensed.

LOL Val!

I would just be sure that the outside kitties had their rabies shots, and the pups too. Better to be safe than to worry.
