Hi all, I have often visited this site and decided to join. I've been a cat owner for several years and have three of them now and a dog. Names are: (I am sure you will see a pattern hehe) Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Blue Moon and my dog is Murphy (short for Murphy's Irish Stout).

Also in my last year of school to become a Vet Tech, 2 more semesters to go!! whoohoo!!

Hope you are all enjoying your day! Its one of those rainy days here in Levittown, NY.

xoxo

Thanks for the welcome!! My kitties would say hi but they are passed out right now on either side of my keyboard while I am typing, lol.

Thanks Chris for the well wishes for school. I sometimes wonder how I made it these past years. Can't wait to be caring for the furry lovelies full time!!!

There seems to be so much information on this site, and a nice bunch of people too!!

My cat was brave and just ran around my back yard for a few minutes. He's an indoor cat, but he's curious about rhe world outside...so long as the neighbour's dogs aren't out. For pics of him, see my newbie entry. lol

Welcome Liz! Not surprisingly, there are other vet tech members.
Congrats on making it so far - looking forward to celebrating with you!

It IS a site full of nice people and lots of information - and helping hands (and paws.
)

BTW, DH and our 8 rescue kitties live in NW NJ.

We're kind of neighbors LDG
8 rescue kitties wow! So amazing of you

lol Cala he's going to think he's a wild kitty now.. haha.. freedom!! I wont let my kitten out, he tries.. he sees my older one go out. But she refuses to put her feet on the grass, so she only stays on the patio. Its pretty funny, not even if there is something to chase on the grass, she just wont go pass the edge of the patio. So I trust her, but no one else. Too busy of a street. I will however totally put harnesses on them. I can be the crazy cat lady, perfectly ok with that lol

LOL, like we had a choice.
Thankfully, having lived outside, none of ours have any desire to go back outside.

Love to see pics of your babies!

You'll have tro upload pics to photobucket or some other site.

I found that Anubis turns into a limp ragdoll when we oput a harness on him. As soon as he realized he didn't have the freedom to go where he wanted, he gave up. That realization came after he was stopped from nabbing a black squirrel in our back yard by my girlfriend who had the other end of the leash. As for a desire to get out, he's been timid about that ever since an overly friendly Newfoundland dog tried to catch him & slobber all over him. I have a few bite mark scars from that incident!

Oh yea the definitely become limp rag dolls. Only Sierra is good at it. Sam is ok, he kind of does this crawl-walk thing and then stops and looks around, like he is scurrying across the ground. Blue I am going try to get him started now since he is only 5 months.

My friend has Blue's brother, Trouble (he totally lives up to the name, lol) and he is great in his harness and seatbelt for the car ride, lol. He's like a dog.

I can only imagine how terrifying for Anubis that must have been!! Big slobbery puppy coming at him, lol... I am assuming the bite was from Anubis?

Please post instructions that would be so helpful, thanks!! I would love to show you the furry fam

Yea the names kind of just happened, once we started that was it... Thanks
The other day I found a receipt from the store, it said Blue Moon and Sam Adams on it. I think I am going to frame it w/ a picture of the two of them haha

Does everyone here pretty much have their animals posted in their profile thing?

The dog was by no means a puppy...she was a full grown 200 lb Newfoundland...who lived with 2 cats, and liked to pin them down with a gigantic paw & lick them. She wanted to do that to Anubis, and he objected...and bit me when I tried to rescue him.

I have a habit of calling them all puppies.. even my guy and he's 107 lbs and I call him my pup.. even though he is pretty much taller than me when he stands haha

That had to have hurt!! Ouch! If he only you knew you were helping...

He knew he had hurt me. He ran and huid behind the couch after I got him back inside and cried at me with his 'I'm sorry" meow. He's a pretty smart kitty..and we can tell generally what he wants by the different meows he makes.

I am sorry that I did not post these instructions on how to post a photo last night
. I am very ditzy at times as you can see
.

Anyway here are the directions on how to post a photo: Please make a Photo Bucket account. Here is the website http://photobucket.com/. It very user-friendly, and best of all, free!

Once you register there, you can start uploading pictures to your albums there. When you upload a picture, make sure it is no bigger than 640 pixels wide...there is an uploading option on Photobucket that will upload them to that size, or whichever size you choose. If you need help with re-sizing just let me know.

When you upload a picture, you will see it in your album. Below each picture are a set of codes. To make a picture appear within the body of your post, you right click and copy in the code that has the tags that look like this:
Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Code
IMG Code (This is the one you want)

Next...
open a message box in a thread ,
click the paste option in your own tool bar,
in the area of the message where you want your photo to be located....
just right click and paste your photo...
it should be there when you preview your message.

Hope this was helpful. This information came from xocats
.
