Hi guys, I was just wondering if there are any good dental toys out there for cats/kittens other than brushing their teeth. Ones they can chew on and it will help keep their teeth clean and possibly help their breath as well. Also, with the teeth brushing, what tooth brushes and paste do you recommend?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

I know Petstages (http://www.petstages.com/cats-chewing-menu.html) makes dental toys for cats. I bought the Dental Health Chews which they say "helps remove tartar and improve dental health," but one of my cats won't touch it and the other one loves it. The netting apparently acts like floss to remove tartar, but to be honest, I don't really know if it works that well.
I think your best bet would probably be to stick with brushing. I (and my cats) personally love C.E.T. toothcare products (. They come in flavours like poultry, fish, beef, malt and vanilla-mint and they have an enzymatic action on the teeth. So, it works even if you can't really brush their teeth and you can only just wipe it on. I don't really use a toothbrush, I just squeeze the toothpaste onto my finger and rub it into their teeth and gums.
Hope that helps!

I bought a set of the dental toys pictured in the link, but my cat completely ignores them. He won't even chase one if a throw it near him like he does with other toys. I think it is because he is completely indifferent to catnip. If your cat loves catnip then this would probably be a good idea for them, but if they don't then I would try a different method.

Try Greenies dental treats. They help with tartar and bad breathe and each treat only has 2 calories and they're packed with vitamins too. They have like 5 flavors so most likely you'll find one that your cat likes. I haven't met a cat that hasn't liked at least one of their flavors. I recommend the chicken and ocean fish flavors.
The only downside is that if you're a cat owner that's picky about the ingredients, they do use chicken and corn meal in them. I've never had a problem with that kind of stuff but I know a lot of people on this forum do. In my experience, these treats don't make as many cats sick like some treats, dental or otherwise, do. Had I cat that had severe stomach issues and these treats were the only ones she could eat without throwing up. Another was so sensitive to dairy that if he ingested only a pen point size amount, he'd be throwing up the whole day. So I rate them an A++ in my book.

(they also have pill pockets treats if you have cats that hate taking pills.
