Surprise! Marlow and Sasha have had another birthday, we think. We celebrate their birthdays on August 9. Sasha is now 5 and Marlow is 3. They seem to have settled into a relationship where Sasha gets his way up to a point then Marlow just says "that's enough". Marlow is stronger than Sasha and knows it, but he still allows Sasha to be alpha cat just because he is so easygoing.
Nothing much new to report. The only milestones have been that Sasha will now lay with my wife, Becky, when I'm away. Marlow allows me to pet him just a little bit more and has become more vocal at mealtime. He had always sat back and let Sasha do all the begging.
Another thing that has started lately is Sasha will lick Marlow on the head then clamp down on Marlow's neck either with his mouth or paw. Sometimes Marlow lets it go at that and sometimes he retaliates. Marlow could put the hurt on Sasha if he wanted to but he never does. He only goes as far as need be to get Sasha off his back. Then he politely allows Sasha to save face.
At feeding time we have to referee. Sasha will gorge down all his food in seconds then he wants to eat Marlow's food. If we are not watching, Marlow will let him have it. Sasha eats Royal Canin SO and Marlow eats TOTW. Sasha gets double the amount at feedings but doesn't chew and finishes in half the time. We have to keep Sasha at bay 'til Marlow finishes. Then Sasha goes and licks Marlow's bowl for any crumbs.
You can see from the photo that Marlow is bigger. It's all muscle too.
