cravings? Or is there a strange food combination that you just can't live without?
I was talking with a co-worker the other day and he confessed to me that the only way he could eat a Snickers candy bar was with a glass of tomato juice. After I was done gagging, I thought about my own personal indulgences of vanilla ice cream and saltine crackers. YUMMY....
Soooo, anybody wanna talk about your culinary secrets ???

I used to live off mayo sandwiches when I was younger. (My 2 year old niece loves them too
)

Plain potato chips in vanilla ice cream is also good. Though, probably not considered very weird.

Cheese and ketchup sandwiches...Those are good and DF introduced me to them way back when we were broker than a joke and literally lived off ramon noodles. Our verson of a high class cheese sandwich was adding a couple slices of bacon.

Pickles and chocolate. Mmmm. Not chewed together though--a bite of one, swallow, then a bite of the other.

My brother likes cream cheese and peanut butter sandwiches. Well, he's skinny (and vegetarian), he can use the fat!

I'm dying to try the wasabi mayonaise in our fridge, I'm thinking perhaps grilled eggplant or summer squash sandwiches.

Though not very weird.

Cream cheese and peanut butter on hot english muffins is really good.

Warm cream cheese with raspberry chipotle is pretty awesome too.

I get to craving things that other people think disgusting: liver (fixed that one tonight), pickled herring, blue cheese......... and then there is the craving for bologna and dill pickle sandwiches.

I was reading through this thread and my first thought was how much I love popcorn and Reese's Pieces (mixed together) when I'm watching a movie!!

My college roommate and I used to have peanut butter & Cheerios sandwiches for breakfast...
I haven't had one in a while but they were really good. A peanut butter sandwich with a crunch! I found that Multi-Grain Cheerios worked best.

Oh YES!
I also have to have braunschweiger (sp) sandwiches sometimes with mustard and onion.

single weird items I love are....

fried spam... dip them in flour and fry in oil
hot dogs.... straight from the freezer, sort of like a hotdogsicle
corn meal mush (or polenta) fried in oil and salted

Had that, minus onions (allergic) and mustard for lunch yesterday - like it best on caraway rye but fresh cheap white will do in a pinch!!!

Well, I don't think this is all that weird, but DH (who will eat anything) does. I like to take mashed potatoes, add hamburg (cookied crumbly). Then take a slice of bread, salt the bread, add the potatoes and hamburg, fold up the bread and YUM!

My sister likes raw weiners dipped in milkshake.

I once saw DH cut an entemmens (sp?) chocolate donut in half, put swiss cheese and ketchup on it, and he said it was good.

I like mashed potato sandwiches (made with instant potatoes only) on white bread.

I also like a piece of bologna topped with (again) instant mashed potatoes and a slice of American cheese, then broiled. This was something we had for lunch in elementary school and I still love to this day.

The funny thing is, when I make mashed potatoes with meals, I never use instant.

And bologna cut in four pieces and made into little "sandwiches" using saltine crackers slathered in mustard. Messy, but worth it.

Another childhood delight that a friend taught me to make and I still enjoy occasionally: a sandwich consisting of two slices of white bread and peanut butter with a little pancake syrup mixed in.

Great topic!

Wow, you guys are WEIRD!

I'm wracking my brain... but I don't think I have any weird cravings/likes. As Gary has a phobia about ketchup and can't stand it, he thinks that I like ketchup with my fries weird and disgusting.

I do LOVE pickled beets and eat them out of the jar all the time.

Ohhh! I just remembered another one. French fry sandwiches! Buttered bread, with some fries and ketchup. Mmm...

YES! My whole family's favorite thing, especially on Christmas morning! Not much salt for me, though... I like it plain, or buttered, or buttered with syrup.

Someone mentioned saltine crackers and vanilla ice cream -- for me, it was always chocolate. Loved that when I was a kid!

But for years now, my rare and wicked indulgence has been salt-and-vinegar potato chips and a coffee milkshake! Oh my...
