How often do you eat out in a week?

The Horrible Dining Experience thread got me wondering....how often in one week do you eat in a restaurant, have fast food, delivery, etc.?

We might go out for dinner once a month, if we're lucky, maybe more like once every two months? Most of the time, I just come home from work and cook our meal. A lot of times, DH will have most of the prep work finished til I get home; he'll chop an onion, some pepper, celery, whatever I need done. And then I'll put my apron on and cook. I do get tired of cooking sometimes, but most of the time, I enjoy my time in the kitchen.

We just don't go out that often and when we do, it's usually with my sister and BIL or my brother and SIL or a group of friends. Sometimes I'll get home and DH will say, "C'mon, I'm treating you!" and we'll go someplace. But that's rare because he knows that I prefer cooking.

And this is my choice, too. It's not that we can't afford to eat more often, but we don't see the need.

There are several reasons why we eat in...

I know what's in our meal and that it's healthier than pretty much anything we're going to eat in a restaurant.

We're saving money (at least I think we are; DH might not agree with that some weeks when I go over the grocery budget ).

We tend to appreciate eating in restaurants more simply bc we don't do it that often.

So what about you? How often do you eat out in a week?

I agree with your reasons Pam. We go out about once a month, and lately it's because we have a coupon for the place.

I'd say for us in a month it would hit around 4 or 5 times for dinner, and a whole lot for lunches.
It depends a lot on what we have going on. After every autocross event we go out to eat with a large group of people. We also go to the Beer Market which is a local beer garden and when we do we go over to earthfare and get some fresh subs or pizza. Or if the bbq vendor is at the beer market we will eat from him. We also go out to mexican fairly often.
But its not because we dont want to cook, actually we both really like cooking, but we both love to get out of the house and hang out with friends. Or just go grab something quick on our way to the store or to do some errands. We know how much it costs, and we are okay with that, we take turns paying usually, and if its starting to cost too much we back down on the lunch meals and try to pack out own more.

On average we probably go out to eat or get take-out about once a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I like to cook, or if I'm busy or just not in the mood then we'll just make sandwiches, a frozen pizza, or get salads from Trader Joe's or something. (I guess that last one kinda counts as take-out.) BF cooks on weekends sometimes which is always good too.

Mike absolutely loves cooking, so most of the time he does the cooking.

We try to make a point of eating out once every other week or at least once a month. It's a treat for us and lets us get out of the house and try something new.

Hardly ever. I mostly can't afford to do it too often, and I always feel why spend the money when I can make something at home! I like to cook, and since I joined Weight Watchers, when I cook for myself I know what's going in it. I also bring my own lunch to work, for the same reason.

It's really hard for me to spend money on stuff I can make myself.

Usually several times per week, but sometimes that's because I'm out on the road. In those circumstances, I don't go anywhere fancy.

It really depends on the week for us.

We tend to go through phases where we will eat out like once a week for a while and then we won't eat out for like a mth.

Just depends on our mood

We usually go out twice on the weekend. Friday and Saturday nights. We have a couple of places we like to go to eat, not fancy or expensive though. We will go to TGIF alot because we always have alot of coupons too. I do cook alot during the week. I enjoy cooking especially my slow-cooker meals. Then we have leftovers the next night too. Makes it a bit easier.

twice more less... we´re plenty "home" people!...

To often.My family is fussy about what they like. If I cook at home I have to cook 3 different meals always. So I prefer to eat out. usually 5 plus times a week. We love the Texas Roadhouse

We get take out a LOT, but that's because we both hate cooking. We tend to choose healthier options though.

We go out 1-2 times a week. I really want to stop going out to eat because it wastes so much money, but I hate cooking. I only know how to make a few things and I get sick of eating them, plus I hate having to do the dishes after.

For sure more than twice a week, mostly because we are on 2 bowling leagues and we don't have time to go home and eat before bowling. We usually split a salad or entree there though.

it used to be twice a year because money was always tight would order in more regularly because for somethings its actually cheaper to order in than to make it

now i go out more often with the girls twice a month id say to sit down and eat but sometimes we will grab something and go to the pub where we work and have what we bought in there

Right now we're getting lunch to take out every 2 weeks, but that's odd for us. There just happens to be a great family-owned little bakery/restaurant just up the block from Lazlo's oncologist. While he's getting his treatment, we order to take out and bring something home with us.

We don't go out much because a) Gary's a better chef than just about any restaurant we could go to, and b) we're home bodies, and c) we can't afford it anyway. There's really only one restaurant around here we love and it's out of our price range LOL. (It's a Japanese restaurant that rivals the best in NYC. ).

We get KFC as a treat about every two or three months, and chinese take out probably once every six weeks/two months.

Usually about once a week, which is actually cut back from the 3 or so times a week that we used to go. I haven't quite picked up this whole "cooking" thing, and my boyfriend can't even make a piece of toast. We're both vegetarian though, so the meals we do get are usually healthier and cheaper... unless it's the fondue place downtown... SO GOOD.

I usually get breakfast from work's cafeteria so if that counts, then I would say I eat out 17 or 18 meals per week (out of 21). I like to go out to lunch with my coworkers to a sit-down restaurant during the week, I have plans with friends maybe 2 or 3 nights per week, then almost always have plans for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights that involve eating out. I have a lot of different groups of friends who don't mingle so it's a lot of eating out lol!

And now you see why my budget is the way it is. I have gotten much, much better in the last few weeks, though. I've been taking lunch or coming home to make a sandwich, and been mostly cutting out all non-social takeout/fast food at nighttime. I can't help the dinner dates, though. Maybe once I'm better at cooking I'll have people over more - though a common problem is we are spread over the whole city so we like to go to a "central" location which is usually a restaurant.

Take out once a week. I go out to eat with friends, a couple of times a month.
