What's a good supplement for general nutrition?

My cat is over 10 years old now. She is medium-haired and shedding a lot, which is normal. I brush her fur often, so she won't swallow as much of it.

She has always dealt with allergies in certain seasons and will get a patch on her back of itchiness where she makes a hot spot. Also under one of her legs, sometimes there is fur missing and she has irritated the skin.

Any suggestions on supplements, oils, other, that I can feed her, that would be good for her general health, perhaps help fur balls, too...and help her not to have dry skin? I want to give her something for her general health, and it might even help her other symptoms.

Thanks for any advice.

Omega 3 supplements are good for.skin, heart, brain and.joints. I am not sure how much to give to a cat though. Ask your vet. I give my 20 lb supposed-to-be-17 lb dog 1000-1200 mg a day. You can give too much so you should ask a vet.

Have you tried switching her to a low allergen food? That may greatly help.
In fact, what food are you feeding now? Instead of a supplement, switching entirely to a better food will improve her health overall. Then if she still hasn't problems, more specific supplements can be suggested.

Thanks for the suggestions!

She has been on a low-allergen food for the past 5 or more years. The allergies remain...
