Cat Eye Worms, Help

Today I uploaded some pictures of my lovely cats and much to my surprise this image has something I find very disturbing in it…

I can only think of two things
1. That its just hair, but then why does it look like it wraps around inside of the pupil?
2. That it may be worms, however they are not supposed to be inside of the pupil and we do not live in California.

I am so very confused and will take her to the vet soon after I take a few more shots. If you have any insight, please share!

That is so distressing!!! And you can't see that with the naked eye? Only with a flash bulb? Bless her sweet heart. Please let us know what the vet says. All I know is that the larvae of roundworm can travel to the eyes, but I've never had any personal experience with it...:vibe s:

I found this: http://www.felipedia.org/~felipedi/w...p/Thelazia_spp

Other searches indicated that Thelazia is limited to California... If it's rare, the vet may need to look it up. When our Flowerbelle first had lung worm, it was the first time in this county they'd seen it, and it took some doing to figure out what it was. Now it's pretty commonly seen in outdoor cats (she was a rescue, not an indoor/outdoor).

You might want to print out the picture and bring it with you.

for your baby!
