Sophie went into labour at7 pm she had 1 kitten. We could still feel more in her tummy. Sophie then took care If her kitten, afterward she got up ate and generaly went out of labour. I looked For more signs that she would complete having her kittens. I was up all night, still no kittens. I called My vet at 2 pm. I was told it was going to close in 10 Min. they gave me 2.more vet #s after calling making an appt Sophie in 3 mins had her last 2 kittens. It had been 21 hours. I am happy to say that Mom and kittens are happy and healthy. In conclusion If may not have been a normal labour but the result is very normal and healthy.
I Dos not need to go to the vet after all.just need a little more patience.I would have taken Sophie to the vet but I didn't want to upset her bonding with the kittens and knew she was finished birthing. Good luck to all with their pregnant cats. Never wait over 24 hrs before consulting a vet. Thanks. For listening. Lisa

congrats on the new kittens. Some things to consider though, are you sure she is truly empty? If you are sure, how did you find this out? 21 hrs for a cat labour is a very long time, which can mean more stress on mom and thus the babes. Personally with a cat that was in labour that long and that time span in between kittens I would be taking her to the vet to make sure she is emptied out and ok. Did she deliver all placentas? How old is mom? is this her first litter?

Welcome out our Forums!

Congrats on this good outcome!

Tx for sharing your story!

Yes, such paused deliveries happens now and than. You did all right. As she seemed unstressed and contented, you awaited but closely observed.
When you got unsure and afraid, you contacted your vet, and made sure you had fresh phone number to a emergency vet.

After a while she delivered the rest without problems....

But IF she were in delivery work without results several hours, or visibly distressed or something - than one must contact the vet sooner, and be prepared to rush the cat to the vet...

Jolly well done, mom, kids and owner! (even the vet did well)

Good luck!
