New Cat Old Cat

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anybody can help me with an issue Im having.

Ive been living in an apartment for 3 years and adopted a beautiful kitten from the local animal pound 2 years ago. She has been spayed and gets along very well with the other cats that hang around our apartment block.

The issue is I have a cat from my home that I grew up in which is no longer able to be taken care of properly and I want to bring her up to my apartment. The problem is she is over 12 years old, lived in isolation and settled in her ways, along with being very very very unsociable.

I know for sure that my 2 year old cat will get on fine with any new addition but the problem is my older cat and settling her into a new enviornment.

Has anybody any ideas of how to make this move work any bit easier?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Your 2 year old is like my San -gets along well with other cats. Once the 12 year old gets used to her new environment (not afraid to explore, will nap anywhere, eats her meals normally, uses the litterbox w/o problems) and prefers to be left alone, she will probably make it known to the young one in the feline way - hissing, hiding and just ignoring her. If your 2 year old is like my San, she will respect the older one's wishes. But make sure the old one has her own "safe" space where she can stay undisturbed.
