No thanks! People in Germany are complaining about our "non-summer", but they'd (literally) be dying if it were that hot, thanks to an almost universal lack of air conditioning.

Its been pretty darn miserable here too! Not as bad as you though!
Although I have to say I dont really mind summer that much! I just wish it wasnt so sticky hot and humid!
July had 23 days in the 90s and the last remaining days where upper 80s...So far every day of August has had an extreme heat and air quality alert.

I am just really surprised that they haven't asked us to start water rationing, considering we haven't had more than little drizzles in ages.

Its so bad that wildlife that usually stays away is entering urban areas searching for water, like these bears: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...76S6TA20110729

The water table is so low in fact, that part of the space shuttle Columbia was revealed:

Wreckage from shuttle Columbia was uncovered in East Texas this week, the result of a prolonged drought lowering water levels in a lake.

It's been like that here too. According to the forecast this morning, the temp is supposed to be between 100-103ºF with a heat index of 112-118ºF. Absolutely disgusting I HATE summer here. I'm actually looking forward to seeing if Tropical Storm Emily comes near the coast here ... at least it'll be cool and breezy.

Currently it says:

Dangerous heat index.
Outdoor exposure should be limited.
95°F
Feels Like: 110°

We have a very accurate thermometer that we keep in full shade. Yesterday it registered 111.6 F. The humidity was 62% so the heat index was probably over 120 F. I really enjoy the heat, but yesterday was unbearable even to me. Yesterday at work, they announced over the walkie talkies that 2 air conditioner units arrived on the dock. When they were wheeled out on the floor, we were taking bets on how long they would last. Gone in 10 minutes (I picked 20 minutes). We've been out of fans for a week now and can't get any more to sell.

It's been so hot for so long that they warned people to water around the foundations of their homes, as the dry shifting soil is causing people's basement walls to crack.

Today we're dropping down to a balmy 98.

Up here in Minnesota we've had extreme heat and humidity too, our highest heat index a week or two ago was between 115 and 118 degrees!!!! But at least we get some rain and some breaks in the extreme temps.

Its almost that bad here too. Its 5:30 PM and still 97 degrees. Was supposed to be 101 today, don't know what it actually got to. Even up in PA where I was visiting family it was unbearably hot. When I lived up in PA, we used to get a couple of days in August in the 90s, and that was it. At least here we have central air, all they have is a little window air conditioner and some fans.

My SIL and niece just came home from 3 weeks in London and Paris. They had to buy coats, sweaters and socks. I would gladly have given them some of this heat we are getting.

I haven't been able to even go out golfing but once so far this year because it is too hot for me to breathe.

We had a week of 118 degrees with the humidex! That was plenty hot. It's now down to a more tolerable level.

Your low is going to be our high on Sunday.

One of my FB friends was a meterologist in the Armed Services and he mentioned a thermal solstice which happens 5-7 weeks after a the summer equinox. This is when the sun is the highest in the sky. Its usually either last two weeks july or last week July and 1st week August. If course I'm much further north and this may make a difference. Last year I don't know if we reached the 90's at all and last month I think it was 2-3 days. Hopefully that is enough!
Have have had a good amount of rain since May though which is nice-the gardens and even the lawn look great (but weedy).

You can keep it thanks. If theres one thing you won't catch me moaning about it's the British weather when it's cool or raining. The heat and humidity has been horrible here
