Thanks everyone. G-cat says she knows she's beautiful, but she still likes to hear it.

And yes, she is a daddy's girl. And a mommy's girl.
I call her that all the time. Very needy and lovey and, well, basically, if both cats escaped the house somehow, Dot would be gone, and Genever would probably stay in the yard and wait for us. Even though she's become quite the attempted-escape artist lately, trying to sneak out the back door all the time...

She looks like she misses her daddy.

Erica, what do your girls do when he's away for a few days? Do they get a little funky or are they OK?

The reason I'm asking is because when Banshee was alive and I would leave to spend the weekend with my girlfriend in NY, usually the next day, Rick would call and say, "I think your girl's getting funky." Banshee would actually start to mope around a bit. And our petsitter used to tell me that, too. That Banshee seemed to funk out a bit after about a day or two. She wanted her people back home. I would talk to her on the phone and Rick said she seemed to know that it was me.

We left for a long weekend last fall and the petsitter said that the kids didn't seem to mind us being gone as long as they were fed. When we came home, they were all milling around in the living room.....but it was because we came home right around their dinnertime, we think.

When Rick goes away for awhile, the kids seem to be OK. The first night, the only ones who sleep on the bed with me is Mollipop and usually Whisper. But the second night, everybody's back in bed again. It's almost like their whole routine has been interrupted and it takes them awhile to get used to the new routine. And then when he comes back home, they all seem happy to see him.

Well, they don't seem to act too much differently when he's away, really. BF does travel for work kinf of a lot, he's been in Chicago all week for a conference, he FINALLY comes back tomorrow. The thing I do notice though, is when he's gone, I don't get much snuggle time in bed at night. Usually, Genever will sleep with me under the covers at least part of the night, or sometimes she'll just sleep by the foot of the bed. But not when he's gone and it's just me. And that's when I really could use some kitty company!! It's weird, because Genever rarely goes near BF in bed, just me. So why would that change when he's gone? Dorothy still comes and goes during the night, she usually doesn't start til 4AM or sometimes at 6:58-6:59 (the alarm for her pill goes off at 7. how does she know?), walking all over us, lying on our chests, wet nose in our faces, sometimes me, sometimes him, and that doesn't change when BF is gone. She just does it to me.

When I'm gone, BF says they seem to wander around aimlessly. They're probably bored or lonely, because I'm home all day (hopefully not for much longer. I really need a job!!!), and he works til 6 or 7 usually. He gets lots of lap time and snuggle time when I'm gone. But when he's gone, I don't get any more than usual, and less snuggles in bed! What the heck?
