I rescued my cat when she was a kitten and she's been with me for 8 years. We moved to a new house a couple of months ago. We started having SEVERE hairball problems, daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I was on the phone with the vet a lot. She's a short hair, on hairball food, was getting hairball lubricant daily, being brushed daily. We finally resorted to a cortisone shot, the Feliway comfort zone plug-in, and a vitamin supplement for skin and coat. All was well for 2 weeks and now the vomiting has started again. The incessant grooming has slowed down. She's getting hairball lubricant every other day. I don't see hair since the vomiting has recurred. What do I do now? My vet was out of suggestions 2 weeks ago. Call the vet again?

Thanks,
Heather

That's what I planned, but was just wondering if anyone else experienced something similar?

I have not experienced that with hair balls. Do you groom your cat? I think that would help by cutting down the amount they consume while grooming themselves.

I wish I had more advice to give you on this subject. I hope your little one is okay and gets better soon.

At this point, I think an Xray is in order. She could have a large Hairball in her digestive system causing the vomiting. Talk to the vet about that. You also have to be careful about how much Hairball remedy you are giving her and if it contains petroleum which coats the intestines and blocks the absorption of nutrients. If you giving it daily or every other day consistently, it might be too much. Check with your vet on the ingredients of the product you are using. I hope your kitty feels better soon.

I do groom her, but I noticed that significantly less hair is coming out since I started the skin and coat vitamins, so I think that is helping.
