De-fleaing a nursing cat

Hello,

My cat had a kitten two weeks ago. She is due to have her "spot on" insect repellent treatment, but not sure whether it is safe to do it whilst she is feeding the kitten. The box says not to use it on kittens under twelve weeks, but does not mention nursing cats. Any ideas...

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

What brand of spot-on it is?

When did she got her latest dose?

Is she indoor - only cat, or does she go out and hunts?

(Strictly indoor cats usually dont need any dewormers - which become accepted just a few years ago)

Good luck!

Hi

Thanks for replying. Finally managed to find some info on the Bob Martin website, saying that cats should be kept away from other cats for 48 hours after treatment in case they groom each other. So I guess I wont be doing her for the next two to three months. Will now be very paranoid every time she scratches, particularly as she has taken to sleeping on my pillow during the day

ah, so it is a Bob Martin product? and now you want us to search out what products Bob Martin does?

Excellent.

Good luck!

ps. No, we usually dont recommend over the count medical products. Thus, I would be verry suspicious for "Don Martin", either prgnant, nursing, or not.

Do talk with your vet, and stuck to hers recommendation, is what we do advice.
