cat-safe paint?

Not sure where to post this.. feel free to move it if its in the wrong thread!

I've become so inspired with my cats to paint.. and I haven't painted for myself in years.

My inspiration requires their paw prints.. anyone know of any safe paint, ink or paint-like material that I could use? Of course, I'd clean their paw best as I can, but I worry of left-over residue that I can't get off, or if they refuse to let me wash their paws well!

If there's absolutely nothing cat-safe I can use, I'll have to paint the paw prints myself, but I see the painting more valuable with a piece of themselves on it, you know?

Not sure, but I would paint it by hand because I don't think you'll get a good paw print result. At least on my two, if you check the paws they have so much fur there that would soak a lot of paint up, so you'd just get a round blob I think. Otherwise, perhaps just food dye?

I was thinking maybe a shadow outline, but they move too much heh. Hmmmm...
