We have a very old cat tree that is very sturdy, but the carpet and sisal are in very poor condition. We've put new rope on it several times, but now the carpet really needs to be replaced. Anyone ever done that? Is that even feasible? I really like this cat tree, and haven't found another like it or I'd just buy a new one rather than go thru the trouble of trying to "fix" it.
So, what's the best way to do it? Should we use hot glue to glue the carpet down, or a stronger glue (like what?), and/or nails? And what about the sisal? I don't think we've ever really done it right, because it doesn't seem to last long. We usually just tack it down with very long staples at the beginning, then start wrapping, then tack it again at the bottom. Should we be using glue as well?
