We have tried sexing the kittens. By looking at pictures of 8 week old kittens but last time i did this i got it all mixed up and the flower, petal and tiger lily needed a quick name check to bob, mario and tiger.

I have looked at the sexing kittens link but wondered if anyone had another one of younger cats.

the best way to sex for me is by looking at the openings. Like humans, the anus and vulva are very close together in females. Males also have round urethral openings (pee holes lol) and little ladies will have more of a slit (up and down and slightly longer). At 8 weeks old its always been very obvious for the males as they have definite hazelnuts starting to bloom.

If you can post pics of their genital area we should be able to figure it out providing the pics are clear enough

Sometimes, they can be tough until they get a bit of age on them. I stared at Blue's behind for days until I got it right, but rarely have trouble with 'normally' coloured cats, just the colour points.
My vet and I incorrectly sexed my colourpoint tom so I named him Pansy (momma was Daisy). Thankfully he NEVER answered to that girly name, but only came when I called wherezababeeee which is now shortened to Zab. which he does answer to.

I can tell the difference in kittens that young IF I have at least one of each to compare to each other. So first figure out which kittens look the same back there and divide them into 2 groups. One group is the boys, one group is the girls. Then try to figure out which group's privates most look like this : (one dot is the anus and the other is the penile opening) and which ones look like ! (dot is the anus, the slit is the vagina) but upside-down. It can be hard to see the difference in very young kitties but it really is easier to see when you can compare them against each other.

One way to try to find out are the colors if red is involved. (What color are sire and dam?)

When Kuura's first litter was born, I managed easily to figure out the sexes when the kittens were 24h old, but his second litter was a difficult one. The breeder, another breeder, me and the vet looked at them and couldn't figure it out. We ended up agreeing they were all boys.. They turned out to be all girls and they were probably closer to 8 weeks old when this was realized.

Haha, it's SO hard when they're all the same gender! You see tiny differences and think that means one is a different gender, etc. My last batch of orphans were all girls, but I thought one was a boy until she was 12 weeks old and no testicles had made an appearance . So much easier when it's a mixed group.

Thank you so much for your responses. I took photos this morning and by george i figured it out.

I have 3 delicious boys and 2 amazing girlies.

Whilst sexing the kittens we have a couple of delightful pictures of our Ginger Tom (Uncle Cheese) loving the kittens. Rosie doesnt seem to mind him being with her and her kittens and they both loving clean the kittens. Im so blessed.
