are they the same thing?? we are having problems with these things this summer and ever since we got back from vacation on Sunday, they have been so bad....How do you all get rid of these things?

Gnats=Fruit Flies

No, gnats and fruit flies are not the same. Fruit flies are typically found around vegitation and have red eyes, although they are gnat like in appearance. I thing the way to get rid of them is to get rid of fruits and veggies that are lying about
. Keep garbage well sealed. They don't hang about without a food source

I have everything cleaned off and put away...I know there must be some way to trap them somehow....
