New York City to Step Up TNR

See here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/29/ny...l-cats.html?hp

The plan is to neuter strays, increase neutering of owned cats, in order to reduce number of feral cats in the city and increase number of adoptions while reducing euthanasia rates.

Not clear to me how this will increase adoptions but otherwise sounds like a good plan.

Of course PETA's Newkirk is saying trap and euthanize is a better / more humane solution. But we all agree PETA's take on companion animals is way different from ours.

So what do you think of NYC's plan - sounds good and you think it will work?

I do not trust ny animal care and control after dealing with them regarding dogs. I hope for the animals sake this does work out!

I TNR a cat who tamed up 100% on the OUTSIDE and is now my cat. If done right IT WORKS.

I saw this on the news broadcast, I hope it works out for the kits.
