Hi,

We have a 7 yr old tuxedo in door only cat. He continues to experience swollen parts, like his leg, lower lip, upper lip, side of his head, back leg etc.
The swelling comes and goes. He can go a month then his back ankle swells up.

We had ultra sounds done on him and it was determined he had a bad heart. That turned out to be wrong. Our vet also didn't agree. We've changed foods and that hasn't helped either. What we do is give him a steroid and within hours it goes away. Sometimes the very next day he'll swell up again but another part, say his other leg.

He can go for weeks and then has these symptoms. I've checked most of the websites and have not found any thing that resembles his issue.

Has anyone else had this experience?

It sounds like an autoimmune disease of some sort. You might want to look at this site, which lists a bunch of different types of immune disorders, to see if the symptoms match what you're seeing. Have the vets talked at all about trying steriods (prednisone or coritisone) to see if that helps reduce the symptoms? You might also try keeping a journal of his symptoms, along with environmental and food changes, to see if you can find a trigger for them.
