Hey everyone!
It's been a long time since I have posted anything about Luna, but nothing new has been going on.
That is until now!!
Over the last couple of days Luna has began allowing pets with my hand down her back!!!
Its all still new to the both of us, but its a major step forward!!!
She is all over her room, very comfortable with her surroundings and has been for a while. She is always very very close to me, but I still had never touched her. Usually whenever I reach out to her with my hand, she just sniffs me and then backs up. Still not sure of me or my hand. She is always out and present though. Even with my hubby and daughter, she is still out and about. Not as comfortable with them as she is with me, but she still really doesn't mind them coming in and out of her room.
All of these new happenings started the night before last when she was sitting on my desk right behind the computer watching me. This is her place. It's where we enjoy each other and talk and play.
I thought to myself she is so close I wonder if I can pet her with her feather wand. It has been a long time since I had tried this. I had pretty much given up on petting her. Over these last couple of months my progress with her seemed to have slowed. It was ok though. I love her and it I was happy with her just being here.
So, I get up and pick up her wand. At first, she is playing and then finally I got a few good strokes down her back.
She was enjoying this!! So I started moving my hand down each time until finally I was petting her down her back with my hand. I still had the feather wand there as well. When she noticed my hand was so close it scared her a little. So we called it a night.
Whenever I went in yesterday we would do this a little more each time. She kept coming back for more. It was funny because she liked it, but still wasn't really sure of it. Last night when we did this I was able to pet her more with my hand. She even purred for the first time.
I did try this morning to not use the wand, but she is still scared of my hand coming towards her. So I am still using the wand. I'm not sure if she really knows its me touching her and not the wand. Whenever she sees my hand and not the feathers, she spins around real quick and gives me a "what did you just do to me?" look. She even got me with her claw once.
But, she still wants the pets. Its almost like now when she gets behind my computer she is giving me the look "Come on pet me with that little wand!" So maybe over the next few days she will begin to get used to my hand.
I am so happy!!!!
I have had her now for about 5 months and this whole process as been amazing. I kept telling myself when she was ready she would let me know and that's what has happened!! I can't believe it.
