A month ago I never thought I would be posting so soon again.

I brought Nub-e in this morning and got a call this afternoon. It wasn't very good news. He had deteriorated and set back since Thursday despite by vigilant syringe feeding.

Hepatic Lipidosis had set in and only hope was for a feeding tube however is anemia had not improved and my vet did not feel that he could perform this surgery and have it be successful. He was afraid that his RBC count was so low he would not be able to clot. I asked if I would have brought him back Sat morning if it would have stood a better chance and he didn't think so.

So after a couple conversations with my husband and the vet I tearfully agreed to have him put to sleep. They will be sending his body to the vet school at UW madison for a necropsy and let me know the results.

His core body temperature had plummeted to 94.6F from a fever of 104F a week ago.

My vet said he was just too little and we could have tried but he still may not have survived.

I want to thank everyone who posted on his threads.

How quickly we get attached to our new ones and its so heartbreaking to have something unexpected like this occur.

Gail

I've never posted his picture on TCS its on FB. Maybe later...

Oh no, poor Nub-e.
RIP

Lots of vibes for you to get throught this, and that the necropsy report will give even some kind of closure.

Gail, oh no, I am just filled with sorrow. It doesn't take much for me to cry these days, but seriously, this is just heartbreaking. You did everything for your little angel Nub-e and he knew how much he was loved. The pain and grief all too soon for this baby. I am sending you tons of prayers that you may somehow get past this in the days to come.
.

Nub-e
too soon for you sweet
. Now at the bridge, free

Oh Gail, this is so sad.

Thank goodness he had you to fight for him and show him love. He now knows what that is thanks to you.

God bless little Nub-e. The love continues at the Bridge.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of Nub-e. He knew love for the short time he was with you, and no doubt that made all the difference.

RIP, Nub-e

Thank you to all.

It doesn't matter if one has a cat for 6 weeks like Nub-e or 6 years the pain is still the same. We are both still dazed over this.

I'm hoping though when our vet hears from UW Madison that is death will provide insights to treatment of whatever he had for other vets to save lives of other cats.

I always find it really hard to post in this section as I feel for everyone who lost their babies and I never know what to say.

You did all you could for Nub-e and I am sure he appreciates everything you've done.

I am really sorry

I'm so sorry Nub-e's story didn't last longer. They do truly worm their way into our heart so quickly.
