Hello, friends...both new and old.

I haven't been around for quite a while, mostly due to a job that's gotten pretty overwhelming and helping take care of my mother-in-law who suffered from Alzheimer's.

I've missed you all, though, and thought of you often. My two big orange tabby cats, Tailer and Forest, have been doing well. Tailer's still my big lovey guy and Forest, who has cerebellar hyperplasia, is still ruling the house with an iron paw.

I've got a new introduction that I just had to share with you, though. I'm pleased to introduce Grace, the newest cat to adopt us.

About a month ago, our next door neighbor had a fairly frantic move out of her house. She loves animals, but in the chaos her cat got away. We've seen it a couple of times since, but have been unable to catch her. When DH got home on Friday night she was lying in the driveway as if wondering where he'd been all day. When we took her in, DH said "we are NOT keeping this cat!" But by Saturday morning he had already named her after his mother.
He didn't stand a chance.

Near as I can figure, Grace is a DSH torbie. We're already seeing some of the "tortitude" I've heard so much about...she's got something to say about everything. She's a little ball of purrs and love, though.
She only looks cranky in the picture because I stopped petting her to get the picture.

We took Grace to the vet for a workup on Saturday. The blood tests came back this morning and suggest a liver infection or possibly a touch of fatty liver disease. This is probably due to her having little or poor quality food while she was on her own. We're hoping a round of antibiotics, some B12 shots, some better food, and a lot of TLC will get her healthy. For now, she's in quarantine in our office. Both she and our boys are curious about each other, but nobody's showing any hostility yet.

I can't wait to get caught up on what everybody's doing. Hopefully my schedule will be a little calmer, so I'll be around a bit more.
