I was cranky this afternoon after a horrible customer service experience with a local retail store. Dana says "I know what will cheer you up! Let's go visit the kitties in the shelter!". You all know what happened next.

I knew something was up when we went in, as it is kitten season, and there were NO kittens to be found. We then went to the "play room" where they usually keep kittens who need a little socialization and it was FULL of kittens. There was a "staff only" notice on the door. After talking with the employees there, all of their kittens were coming down with the well known shelter URI. Their little immune systems were having hard time fighting it and with a lack of room, they were all kept in this one little room. (At least 15 kittens.)

Dana and I picked out 5 in which to bring home to foster, get well, provide some much needed TLC before we find them amazing forever homes.
We didn't know it when we picked them out, but all 5 are males!

Murphy & Pablo we're pretty sure are brothers from the same litter approx. 10 weeks old. Murphy is just a little sneezy, but Pablo has pretty bad conjunctivitis. They are black & white tuxedo kitties, Murphy with more black and Pablo with more white.

Diablo is an adorable orange tabby who I couldn't resist, a little sneezy and super sweet, approx. 12 weeks old.

Dexter is the worse off I believe, very lethargic and doing some drooling. They checked for mouth sores but couldn't find anything. He's such a doll though and purrs as soon as you look at him. He's approx. 12 weeks old and is grey & white tabby.

Baxter is the wee one at approx. 8 weeks old. He's sneezy with a bit of conjunctivitis as well. He like to climb up and sleep on my shoulder.
He's a white and grey baby.

They're all on antibiotics and except for Dexter, are all eating well. (I syringe fed Dexter tonight and he was very tolerant!) LOVE these guys already. They're all little lovebug purr boxes!
I'll get some pics in a few days once they're more settled in.

Ok, ok, I'm at work in the office today for like the first time in 2 weeks.
When I get home I'll take some pics of the cuties. They're all a little broken looking right now though with the conjunctivitis & URI's, but they're still all cute as buttons!

They all took their meds this morning like little troopers, all purring away.

You are totally teasing us!
You know you have to get to work with your camera once you get home!

Btw, how's the terrific ten been?

I cannot help but ask you this: how do your 10 react to you fostering? DH and I were discussing fostering and my fear is Calvin especially being all his jealous self. I know you has separate foster rooms and you don't let your kitties in there but they must know there are others behind the closed doors.

The Terrific Ten are all WONDERFUL!
I'll have to get new pics of them for you guys as well.

I have 2 spare bedrooms that we use as fosters rooms, so the fosters are always seperate from the ten. There are a few reasons for this, one being I don't want to spread anything contageous and 2, I don't want to stress them out if I don't have to. Really though, they are SO used to strange cats being in the house. A lot of them sit outside the doors and communicate, lol, or even paw under the door. My kitties all get Lysine in their food and never catch the URI's that usually come with the foster kitties.

Both of the foster rooms have lots of scratchers, condos, baskets, etc. They have lots of toys.
I also have big wire cages if I ever need to seperate fosters for any reason.

I ALSO have emergency stuff to help them get well! I have a vaporizer to help them breath, a heated pet bed for sick kitties or young kittens, and a crazy cubbard filled with health supplies. (BMP & polysporin eye ointment, saline, bandages, flea meds, cat wipes, Lysine, KMR, syringes, etc.)

Pics are now posted in the photo section hun!

Yes, LOVE the L-Lysine as it really helps not only getting the babies well, but in containing the spread.

The only one I'm a little worried about is Dexter. I don't believe he is eating on his own, so of course I've been syringe feeding.
He seems more lethargic than the others as well, but again I don't just know if it's his personality or what. One day at a time!
