I noticed my cat's ear separates into 2 points

Does this happen as the cat gets older or would it be an injury? It's about 19 months old.

Hi smoky.
Did you just adopt this cat? Is it on just one ear? If so, the double point, or V-tip cut is from the cat being Trapped/Neutered/released and was probably a stray at one point in time. Some vets will use the v-tip cut instead of the straight across tipping.They do this to ferals ears so a trapper will know by the ear tipping if the cat is already sterilized. If you have had this cat since a kitten, then I would assume it is from an injury of some sort.
