I discovered a red cloth ribbon, about 3 inches long in her poop. It took me a moment to try to figure out where it came from.. then I realized it was a dangling cat toy that hung from a scratching post. The toy had several ribbons attached to it.. not sure how many exactly..6 or 7? the plastic piece that held the ribbons together was still attached to the chain, so at least she didn't eat that.

I searched, and found a green ribbon near the litter box.. and I cannot find the rest! I am still searching, but I am worried she swallowed the rest.

I'm not sure how long ago she ate them.. 2 days ago maybe? yesterday morning? I didn't notice the toy was gone until I saw it in the poop.

She's eating and drinking normally, she's playing and showing no signs of pain or anything. Since she passed one ribbon that I saw (could be others, I didn't check since I didn't know till now!), I am hoping she won't have issues with the others.

Can someone share some tell-tale signs that I should watch out for? Vomiting? diarhea? loss of appitite? Vets are closed so I can't call, but I don't feel its an emergency as she's eating and drinking and playing. Can I give her some vaseline to help it move along, as one would with a hairball?

The ribbon was about .25" thick, and about 3-4 inches long.. I am hoping the thickness won't cause any wrapping issues or anything. I am hunting for the rest still.. she might've hidden it somewhere if she didn't eat it all.

You have the symptoms about right. Any sudden change in behavior, eating, drinking, or eliminating should be a cause for concern.

However, those ribbons sound small enough that they shouldn't be a big cause for concern. On the other hand, I'd check any other toys and not leave any strings around, since you know now that she will swallow them.

I already sorted toys with strings and ribbons and took them away. Tossed them to be exact.

I am trying not to be TOO worried since she's eating and playing and such, but it's on my mind! If she passed one, she should pass the others without issues.. I hope!

Oh yikes. Francis swallowed a Chicken bone a few years back and his stomach would growl a lot. So he had to be taken to the vet and did the surgery. If it gets worse like you will here unusual stomach growls.. you know what to do.. take her to the vet.

Wish for her a speedy recovery.

thanks hun!

It's been a few days, and I found the rest of the toy under my pillow. Judging by it, I'd say there's 3 or 4 pieces missing from it.. 1 I found in the poo, 1 I found under the bed.. and missing 1 or 2 more pieces. I feel if she's still OK now, she must've passed it by now or hid it really well.
