For the second time since I've lived with my mom, Holland caught a mouse in the basement. This time she left it on the floor right by my bed... I got up to feed her before I turned on the light and found it, I'm lucky I didn't step right on it!
I think she was so proud of herself for bringing me such a nice present...

We told grandma and my mom said "Holland, you're earning your keep! Just in time for you to move out..."

How cool! Way to go, Holland!

Our Hydrox used to catch meeces for us. The little field mice would come up from the basement and he'd catch them. Sometimes.....he'd even eat them. Ick!

Congratulations, Holland!

My RB girl, Kiki, brought a little field mouse home once. At that time, she was an inside/outside girl at the time. We lived on the second floor of a two-story apartment complex. (This was about 25 yrs ago) I came out and she had the mouse in her mouth. She dropped it at my feet and it scurried off the balcony to the bushes below! It was still alive! It was soooo tiny and I hope the fall didn't kill it.

Go Holland! Yeah my cats are deprived as there are no meeces around here for em.

Buttercup does give me presents when I'm sleeping though, and lately has been annoying me and announcing it even though she's usually very quiet.

100% of the time she brings her big blue mouse. Other times she brings me two or three of my ankle-less socks that she loves prancing around with or one of her small bouncy balls. At least Wesley only bothers me at meal time.

Good job Holland! The best part is... she has no teeth to eat it with!

Exactly!
The funny thing is, both times she has caught a mouse there was no blood. Did she scare them to death?

Yeah, mice can have heart attacks pretty easily if they are held still because of their super fast metabolism. Or so I hear. I've never frightened a mouse to death personally.

HaHa, that's awesome!

My Jaffa caught a mouse in our flat once. It absolutely terrified me! She was sleeping and all of a sudden she just leapt off the couch and into the kitchen. But, when she put it down to show me, it was still alive and it scurried under the closet door. So, for a week afterwards, I was afraid the mouse was going to pop back out from under the door.

Yay Holland!! Mighty Huntress!
Maybe she squished it to death with her gums or paws? Or just scared it.

Genever caught a lizard once.. and its tail came off and was twitching all over the place. I went to get the 'bug cup' which we use to get critters out of the house without smooshing them, and when I got back another tail peice was off and twitching around! GROSS! So, I just gathered the lizard and its tail parts and threw them out by the lemon tree.

Dot almost caught a lizard, she at least must've seen it and was looking really intently at the TV stand, and sure enough I saw a tail scurry underneath, so I grabbed her and BF grabbed the bug cup and put the little guy outside, no harm done.

No mice though. Though, if rats weren't so diseased, when they were in our attic a few months ago, I would've put the cats up there to take care of the problem....

I love that you have a bug cup (so do I)...
I found a mouse once when I was a kid and I trapped and released it. Is it weird that I will save bugs and mice but it doesn't really bother me when Holland kills them?

Yeah, I think it's great when the cats catch a moth or June bug and crunch on it (June bugs are very crunchy, and Dot thinks they're a great snack!) but if I get to it first, I put it outside. If I see a mosquito though, I squish it. They make me sick, so I make them dead.

Way to go, Holland!!

My Jenny
used to catch us all sorts of rodents... she was a barn cat from my first cat's first litter (lol!). She would just leave them on the porch for us, like, "Here, I brought you something!" ... and they'd always be in various states of dismemberment.
