New kitty salma has an URI

Yesterday my sister took Salma to the shelter that she came from and jsut found out that she has a URI. They told her that she needed to separate her anyway in case she will have one. She's on medication now.

She wouldn't finished her wet food. She only wants the dry food. So the vets told her to transition it to canned food like a high calorie wet food. She did that to Francis when he first came, bu he didn't have a URI. They also gave her eye drop things.

So I was wondering, how is a URI contagious?

Sneezing is a big factor. Those droplets get propelled into the air. Sharing a water or food dish.

All the ways a cold can be spread in humans, it's the same with animals. Grooming eachother.

Def keep them seperated. Talk to the vet to see how long after symptoms disappear before they can be together.

Well Salma is doing alot better in terms of settling down the place. Salma is now a diva cat. Great just like Misa. I was hoping she'll end up like Vinnie. >__< She still has the URI though. She might be therefor another 2 weeks She and Francis will be a little spats with each other.( Mostly likely she'll be the alpha cat. No more Francis being the Alpha cat!) It will not be happy times here until they work out the territory.. Poor things. lol She is more comfortable around people but she hissed back at Francis when he growled at her through the door! She even hisses at Vinnie's paws. Why does these cats hate Vinnie? >< They try to look at each other under the door too.
