My Kitty will be turning 7 in September and she is being fed Blue Buffalo Wilderness. I have read that 7 yrs is considered senior in the feline world and that grain free is not good for them. I wanted to know what I should be feeding her instead? She has been doing fantastic on this food but do not want to harm her if grain-free is no good for senior cats.
Thanks!!

I'd talk to the vet - I recently read, IIRC that now a 7 year old cat would be considered mature, and that seniors are around 12+. That's based on being an indoor cat, of course.

My two are about 7 or 8 (adopted as adults) and my vet does not consider them seniors. I'm getting the senior bloodwork done as that's more comprehensive and I'm a nervous mommy. So, I'd say ask your vet how she would evaluate your cat's health and dietary needs and go from there. I asked mine if I needed to add anything for 'old cats' at this point, and he said no.

My cat is more than double that age and on grain free wet and raw with no issues. I wouldn't consider a 7 year old cat to be a senior. Is that a dry food? I would try to mix in some wet into her diet.

I feed grain free dry to my geriatric cat and she does fine on it, although all my cats do get wet food as part of their daily feeding as well, plus they have a water fountain.

The addition of the wet food, plus the fountain helps to support kidney function with the higher protein diet.
