Hi folks,

I'm trying to figure out which type of authority dry food to feed and welcome your opinions. I know that it isn't the best food out there, but for the price it is pretty good and it doesn't contain fish...a plus since my cats are male and have had UTI issues in the past.

I'm mainly concerned with finding the best formula for my ~5 yr. old 15 lb cat...Frazier..He's no overweight (very muscular), is indoors only, and will be eating ~ 50% wet / 50% dry.

I will post the specs for each type below and appreciate your feedback on which type will work best, as well as how much I should feed (considering that I'll be feeding him ~ 1.5 - 2 oz of wet food a day as well).

UTI issues - hmmm, canned food would be of more benefit - so, whatever canned food you can decide on is probably the better choice.

Check out info on this website: http://www.catinfo.org/?link=urinarytracthealth

... Is it possible for a cat to block when on a 100% canned food diet? Yes, it is possible, but it is highly unlikely. When water is flowing through the bladder, crystals, mucus, and cellular debris will be much less apt to build up and cause an obstruction.

Also, when water is flowing through the bladder, the urine is more dilute which is thought to be less irritating to the bladder wall in some cats. Less irritation means less inflammatory cells and mucus to block the urethra.

Think of canned food as hosing down your cat's bladder many times each day. ...
