I swear, Monet must be teaching Picasso the ropes of living under the roof.

Ever since I let her out of the bathroom, 24/7 now, she's been a perfect little kitty! (and I hope its not because she's under the weather a bit)

She starts to scratch the rug, Monet goes to the scratching post, and Picasso follows.. she hasn't touched the rug since!

I swear Picasso even thought about scratching my couch, but a chase from Monet, she hasn't touched it!

Picasso starts to bite my feet at night in bed.. a swat from Monet.. she hasn't bitten my feet since!

She gets too wild, Monet chases her out of the room and she's quiet for the rest of the night!.. too quiet for a kitten, remembering how hard it was to get Monet under the nighttime routine!

I can almost hear Monet saying "it's 7:55am, at this time, we start licking meowmy's nose to get her up to feed us!" and Picasso woke me up at this time for the past 2 mornings! and I find this amazing because prior, she was in the bathroom, how would she know what time to get me up?!

Does anyone else's cats teach the newcomers the rules like this? I swear, Monet is teaching her everything!

That is so cute! You guys are making me really antsy to get a second cat. I still don't have a clue how Holland will handle it though...
And of course, if Holland teaches a new brother or sister anything it'll probably be how to be naughty.

Wow, that's really cool! That's really great that Picasso's settled in so quickly!!

I think all Genever taught Dorothy was "OK, it's pretty laid back here, you can sleep anywhere you want, play with any of the toys or run laps for a while, and when you get tired, just nap some more. Don't worry about food, mom will take care of it."

LOVED this story, Karen!!!!
I think Monet's a good teacher and Picasso is a sweetheart who wants to fit in with your family and be loved! I'm so, SO, SO glad they are getting along so well, and it gives me great hope that my new kitten will assimilate with the boys just as smoothly!

Awww! How sweet!

Chynna, by RB kitty taught Abby to not scratch my furniture. I had some boxes folded down and stuck between the back of my bookcase and the wall for Chynna to scratch on. She had started to scratch boxes when she first adopted me at another apartment where I had a bunch of boxes tied up and resting against a wall while waiting for a storage locker to come available. So I continued the box trend when we moved. She never scratched my furniture.

When Abby arrived, Chynna would go to the scratching boxes and scratch while looking at Abby as if to say "now pay attention". After seeing Chynna scratch the boxes a couple of times, Abby started to as well. She never scratched my furniture either.

Now Abby has passed on the knowledge to Spencer and Katie, only this time it's with one of those compressed cardboard scratch pads. I have 2 of those and all 3 kitties scratch on that.

Luna was the newcomer, she tried to teach
Lynxx
to cuddle with her. He never learned. She layed down next to him. He meowed and ran off into another room

Luna taught Midnight how to play with mr. ball (aluminum foil ball). Either the 2nd or 3rd night he was here. I took him out of my room, sat down with him in the hallway. I kept throwing the ball towards him. He either backed away, or just watched it. Luna joined in, and started batting the ball, bringing it back for me to throw again. Once he saw her, he copied her. He was 3 weeks old at the time

Luna doesn't cover in the litter box. Her 3rd day here,
Lynxx
watched her leave with out covering. He jumped in and showed her how to cover. That was the 1st and only lesson in covering he gave her. She didn't learn, she doesn't have to, Midnight's always right there to cover for her.

I love it when they teach the new ones good habits. It's the bad habits I wish they wouldn't pass on

My Spencer is the litter monitor around here. He often sits in the tub between the shower curtain and the tub peeking over the side waiting for someone to use the litter box.

Abby doesn't cover anything so as soon as she starts to do her business, he jumps up onto the side of the tub and when she is done he leaps into the box and starts digging like there is no tomorrow.

Katie does cover, but at times as soon as Spencer sees that she is done, he leaps in and pushes her out so he can bury it!

I just think that boy has a litter fixation!

I"m just sure they learn from each other, too.

Gray - a stray, brought along his feral-born "wife", then two kittens arrived before I could get them TNR'd.

Gray was the teacher - still is - and is helping us socialize the feral-born. If it hadn't been for Gray's affection for me, and our interaction, I don't think we would be as far along in this process as we are.

The feral-born are very observant. They watched me brushing on Gray, now Gigi (mommy) is a sponge for being brushed, and son, (Gray, Jr.) is beginning to want more, too. The daughter (Pippy) is still just watching.

I don't doubt that your Teacher Cat is helping the newbie learn the ropes.

Cats are great teachers to us, too.

You're lucky! I had Parker first and we got Buddy. Buddy was the one teaching. Although, he was teaching Parker naughty things like jumping on the counter and clawing at the furniture, which they BOTH still do. He had Parker digging in the garbage too. That is something I had never seen my innocent (lol) baby do!

That's so adorable.
Can I borrow Monet so Simba will wake me up at 7:55?

He wakes me up at 4:40!

forgot about this thread, lol.

great stories, all! I am just really happy that I don't have to "Train" Picasso as I did with Monet!

April, I am not sure, see if Monet won't mind being paid in treats
