Morning All!

I jumped the gun a bit with this post as I have been up for an hour with a headache. Waiting for the ibuprofen & caffeine to kick in.

Today will be the hottest day per the local weatherman since July 13, 1995!
Temps to reach 98F....sorry they downgraded it to 96F! But anyhow the dewpoints still remain in the 70's.

This morning female stray is going to the rescue group & I might have another one take her brother in the next day or two. I will be very glad as they are very friendly cats and should be able to find new homes.

Other than that, I'll check on Nub-e this morning, work and then not much after work.

Bender is being a PITA right now as I've messed up his routine better find some toys for him.

Have a good day!

Morning Gail!

I hope your headache goes away soon!

We had our potential new house inspected last night, and everything looked good...except one thing.

Gail this is sort of your industry, maybe you can provide some insight?

They said in the backyard the patio slopes toward the house, and he said we should re-grade the area so that it slopes away from the house.

This is kind of stressing me out, do you know if this is a big deal? We do plan on doing what he said...but I am nervous of the cost. Or we might do it ourselves but I want to make sure its done correctly. Josh says he doesn't like the interlocking brick on the patio anyway and that we would put a little deck instead after re-grading.

(Everything else they said was really good and they said the house is a keeper)

Morning Friends! Happy Hump Day!

Hope that headache goes away soon, Gail. I started in with one yesterday and it's still here. I live on Advil at times.

Our library's annual book sale is today. My GF from work and I are leaving our offices at 9:00 this morning, meeting another GF for breakfast, and then going to the sale for about an hour or so. Then we'll all come back to work. The price is $20 for a large bag of books with newer hardbacks around $4.00 each. I can usually find a nice collection of books for $20. (Last year's price was $15 per bag.) We've been doing this now for about 4 years or so and we look forward to perusing tens of thousands of books!! And it's a good way to support our local library...they can always use the money.

Can I add my two cents about your new house? You need to have the ground sloped away from your house to avoid water getting into your basement or pooling around your house; that can get really ugly and can cost money if you have a basement and end up with water inside. We need to work on that, too, because, after 25 years, the ground has really settled around our house and we can see that it's sloping toward the back of the house now. We'd like to add a back porch/pergola/whatever in that area, so we're going to take care of the problem anyway. Because of my job, I know a great contractor who said that he'd help us figure out how to slope the ground. It doesn't help that we live on a hill so there's an uphill grade behind us, adding to the problem.

You can save money if you do the work yourself, as long as you know what you're doing. I'm sure Gail knows more than me about this.

Have a great Hump Day!

Good morning

Got to work a little while ago. Hopefully won't be stuck here til 5:30 like yesterday though - I'd like to volunteer for the SPCA this afternoon for a couple hours.

It's supposed to be 93ºF (and feel like 103ºF) here today. Gross - so ready for September & October to get here - and hope it cools down!

Nothing else exciting or newsworthy for the day. Hopefully the lady from the foster group I'm working with will call me back and set up the S/N appointments for the foster kittens I found! As much as they are cute and sweet, they're also about to drive me batty

Morning.. did some errands a bot ago, RX pickup and I wanted to check out the new Sprouts that opened up about a mile from my house! Boy was it PACKED! At first I thought "ah, forget it. I'm not waiting in line for a half hour for a few things" but when I got in the store, I saw the lines weren't all that long actually. I probably waited 5 minutes or so. I just wanted to get olive oil, veggie 'bologna' which is almost half the price at Sprouts than other stores, and Vegenaise. I bought a different brand a while ago and it was gross, so I wanted to get the good stuff. (I'm not vegan, just vegetarian, but I got used to vegan mayo, so real mayo tastes weird to me now)

Anyway, I'm home now, it's supposed to be hot today, I think just 80s though, but the afternoon sun is a killer, so I'll probably stay home and do some planting after 4 or so when there's some shade in the backyard. So.... job searching, some exercising, reading, the usual.

Have a good day everyone, and keep cool!

Good afternoon!! I, too, have a headache, Gail!!!! I am sure mine is from the tremendous heatwave we are having. And going in and out of the air conditioning doesn't help the headache. It is reaching 100 degrees today. Just unbearably hot. Wilma, my most recent TNR girl, is recovering comfortably in my spare room. I will most likely release her back outside on Friday when the temps. drop just a bit. She is such a quiet, docile girl and very tiny. She wants back out. I found out she is almost seven years old!! That is what the vet thought. Pretty old for a feral cat.

Today I am running errands, cleaning and laundry. Have to get some bday gifts too for next weekend. Going back up to Door County for a family reunion. The whole family will be together, which is very rare.

Have a great day all
. Stay cool!
