Brush ideas for a cat that hates to be brushed

My male DSH hates being brushed. He fights me, not mean but just tries to escape and rolls around making it very difficult. He is shorthair and keeps himself pretty clean and gets no hairballs, but he is shedding heavily and I'd like to be able to run a brush over him better. My female loves to be brushed and comes up to me for her grooming, but Oscar runs when he sees it. It is easier to brush his teeth than to brush his fur lol. I just have a regular slicker wire brush for cats. Maybe I need to try a different type of brush? I saw those mitt brushes that looked intriguing. He loves to be pet, just hates to be brushed and have his nails trimmed.

Have you tried one of those gloves withe the little gripper thingies on them to catch the hairs? That might work. Also, I love the zoom groom, and so do my kitties.
