Tapeworm or Roundworm?

I have three foster kittens right now. They've been given one dose of Strongid but are due for a second dose. (I am going to get some tomorrow)
Tonight, I saw a white worm hanging about 1/3 of an inch out of one of the kittens bums. (gag!)
My first thought was tapeworm...I've looked at photos and still can't decide which it was.
Should I give Drontal just in case? No wonder my one little guy is not growing much! He's probably still full of parasites!
I am phoning the vet tomorrow on another issue, so I'll see what she says.
Just thought I'd ask tonight what everyone thought?

Answered my own question...tapeworms!! UGH!
I haven't seen any signs and I've had these kittens for almost a week. I went back in to check them and a segment had attached to the one kittens fur by his bum. I look at the greys bum and there's TWO coming out...they are full!
I hope once I get them treated, the little grey will finally put on some weight.
He eats well but doesn't seem to be gaining much. Not even an ounce this week!
Then the grey torti pooped and I could see several segments.
I'm going to have nightmares tonight...worms are just so gross.

They are gross but very easy to get rid of. Just make sure the kittens don't have fleas... That's how kitties usually get tapeworm. Good luck!

When rescuing, we always give a drontal in addition to the flea/round worm treatment, just in case.

for the babies!

I gave them drontal last night and saw some dead ones in their poop this morning. Nothing coming out their bums either..yay.
They were 3 of 11 dropped off at the shelter. They did have fleas and were given revolution plus the strongid but of course neither works on tapeworms!
I agree, it should be a routine drug given if the cat/kittens have fleas.
Thanks for the vibes !!
