My Cat(s) Are So Spoiled That....

I keep cold water in the fridge for them cuz the tap water is lukewarm in the summertime due to the excessive heat here in Texas, and I know they enjoy cold water as much as I do (this especially applies to the strays/ferals, whose water gets really warm from sitting out all day long).

I don't make the bed till after they get up, cuz I don't want to disturb them. I also do the housework around their schedule.

They get special treats after getting their medicine, or after a trip to the vet's.

I'll sit in agony when I have to use the bathroom if they're sitting on my lap cuz I don't want to disturb them.

How spoiled are your cats?
AWWW you have very "spoiled" cats !!!!!

I too spoil ALL my kitties. I also have refridgerated water for my outside ferals . We are in the midst of the dog day's of summer and upper nineties all week. I will even add some ice cubes. My inside kitties, well, I am at their beck and call. I only vacuum in the morning, when they are already running around and having their morning crazies. Wouldn't want to disturb afternoon naps. They get treats every day mid-morning and then before bed. And they let me know if I am not timely about this. My cats also love to drink from the kitchen faucet (I do have a kitty fountain ) so I will let it drip a bit in the morning and wait till they ALL have had their drink before I can get water for my coffee. AND, I exercise each morning downstairs in my finished basement. And in the beginning of each workout, the cats DEMAND I throw their toys for at least ten minutes or so. Of course, I can't disappoint, so I oblige, all the while trying to start my workout and interspersing tossing of the toy or getting of a toy from under the couch, which I think they do on purpose, so I have to bend down and get it out. We also have one of those sectional sofas down there, and it is covered in cat beds and kitty blankets, humans are not allowed to use it . Need I go on !!!!!!!!!!!! It IS the kitties house, after all

How spoiled are my kids? Apparently not as spoiled as yours!!

I have to hide this thread from my kids! They might begin to think that I'm short changing them!

I do refill their water fountain daily. And I have a bowl of water in the bathroom that gets changed several times a day with fresh cold water (not from the fridge).

I keep the litter boxes well scooped.

Give them brushes daily and whenever they want more.

Other than that, they are on my schedule. If I need to go pee, I go. If I need to clean, I clean. I don't typically "make" my bed because I don't sleep under the covers. What I tend to do is keep the covers rolled back with the bottom sheet exposed and just sleep on top, uncovered. But if I have to get up, I have no issue with relocating a kitty

I put ice cubes in their fountain and try not to turn over if one of them is wedged up against me in bed - until I get totally cramped up - and then I apologize.

And, I just bought a bird bath to place outside the patio to attract more birds (my neighbor who had a bird bath recently sold his condo - new people don't seem to be filling it). And, of course, I got a heated birdbath so the water won't freeze come winter - although we're under a heat advisory right now. To be clear - my cats are indoor cats - the birds are safe from my two!

I did get a whole house humidifier after I got the cats -ok, sure, I'm a little more comfortable too, but it was mostly because their fur was so static-y in the winter.

And when my furnace went out last year, I told the dispatcher not to put me ahead of someone with infants, but that I didn't want my kitties to get too cold either!

Oh, doesn't everyone have furniture that's expressly for the kitties? I've got one front room chair that is pretty much my girl's chair.

My girls get chilled water from the Sparklett's dispenser. As for treats, they have DH all wrapped around their little paws. If he is home, they will stare at him until he gives in. Dusty is the one that does it the most. Sometimes, she gets "sneaky treats" when her sister is not in the room. And if I am home, she demands that I give them to her.
I buy bottled water for them, because I don't like tap water so why would they?

I feed them wherever they happened to be sitting when it gets to be mealtime (including on my computer table, the bed, once on top of the TV).

If one of them (usually Cindy) doesn't like the food I opened, I'll open her another one.

I don't make the beds at all because they like to sleep on the sheets.

If one or both of them are sitting in my favorite seat, I'll sit elsewhere.

DH has actually gone into the other bedroom if he comes out of the bathroom and Cindy is sleeping on his pillow

I'm sure I'll think of a few other things later...they are very spoiled cats. If you look in the dictionary under "entitled" you will see pictures of my cats.

Oh Pixie does not need to see this post. She does get fresh water, several times a day and her bowl is filled with her fav food whenever it gets low and she gets treats on demand and if I have her in my lap I try very hard to not disturb my girl.

Buddy and Sami aren't really mine to spoil...but Parker is.

I can't say I refrigerate water because these guys seem to like it better room temperature for some reason.

But I got a new computer chair sitting in the room that I haven't used because Parker likes to sleep on it. On his towel, of course.
I give him extra treats and let him up on my lap any time he gives me the big eyes. I also will roast myself out of the room so he can have the fan pointed at him. (He LOOOOVES fans).

Its ok though. He gives me unconditional love in return. I think its a fair trade.

I used to have a humidifier going all the time in the winter too, when I still lived in Wisconsin. The air gets so dry there, and neither me or the cats enjoyed getting "zapped" from all that static. I really don't need a humidifier here in Texas cuz it rarely gets that cold & dry, but when it does, I put a pan of water on the stove to keep moisture in the air for the same reason.

I adjust the a/c in the summer and the heat in the winter so the kits will stay comfortable, too.

Mine all have their "special" places, too. A couple weeks ago I went out and bought them one of those kitty condo things, just so they could all have their own special place to call "home".

I used to buy bottled water for my kits too, back when I lived in a place that had the raunchiest water I've ever come across. There was no way I was gonna let my furkids drink that! That water was so bad it actually stank. I didn't even like taking a shower in it!

My cats are so spoiled we have chairs in every window downstairs so they have a place to sit and look out the window. I also took all the plants off the plant stand when Swanie decided it really should be a cat stand.

My precious Damian (RIP ) used to love sitting in front of the fan, too.

I'm like Linda. If I have to go to get up for some reason, I move the cat and get up. Gary won't.

Flowerbelle has trained me to respond to her when she starts pushing things off of stuff. And when she's on the cat tree and reaches out to crawl up into my arms and get pets on my shoulder - well - who can say no to that? Dinner doesn't burn too often.

Lazlo LOVES being brushed in the bathroom. So if a meow issues forth, one of us goes running.

Tuxedo gets "dinner" served to him wherever he is. He didn't adjust to the all wet food plan, so if I want him to eat any wet food, I bring it to him.

They do have most of the space in the RV - but I don't think that's spoiling them so much as making use of what space we have to have 8 happy cats in a small space. (They have perches under every window, the back of the couch was "expanded" so it's comfortable for them; the front dash is covered in layers to make it even, and then is covered in cat beds. We took out the dining room stuff to put in cat trees, and gave up storage in a set of overhead cabinets and under the bed, each of which they have full time access LOL, and, finally, we took out the storage drawer under the couch so they've got that space too. The couch is covered in cat beds - only one of which I remove for my sitting spot).

It's a standing routine in my house that after I take a shower, the furkids will stand in line for their brushing after I've brushed out my own hair.

Oh yes, forgot - Flowerbelle MUST be in the bathroom when I shower. Ours in the RV has a door, not a curtain like we had around the shower/tub in the house. But I HAVE to give her water that drips off my fingers after I finish my shower. That one came about when we moved into the house - she loved to stand at the end of the tub when I showered and drink water dripping off the end of my fingers.

Yes... Flowerbelle is the most spoiled, and our little Princess.

Yup.

Also, I fill my bathroom sink for Holland before I go to work in the morning because I know she prefers to drink from the sink than her water bowl.

I get up half an hour before my alarm goes off to feed her if she's hungry.

I put unbreakable toys on the counter for her each morning because she likes to knock them down and watch them fall.

No, my cat isn't spoiled at all...
I let Picasso bite my feet through the covers in bed as I hold still, waiting for her to be bored of my feet. ouch!

I sometimes reject lunch invites from coworkers because I'd rather go home and give my kitties a hug and some play time for an hour before I go back to work!

I get up in the middle of the night to open blinds when Monet begs. arg!

If I shut the door to the bathroom while I shower or take my hour-long bath, Monet gets upset and hits the door.. I'd have to get up in the cold air to let him in.. and out when he begs to go out.

We have a door stop so the bathroom door won't close.

That's what I should do. The other night BlackJack knocked the measuring cup off the counter and onto the floor and shattered it into a thousand pieces. There's nothing like the sound of shattering glass that gets your attention - especially at 2 o'clock in the morning. The next measuring cup I buy will be made out of plastic.

When times got bad I subjected myself to eating Ramen Noodles and other "cheap" foods - but the cats still ate well.

FANTASTIC! mine claw me for scritches when I am sleeping, claw marks on my arms (not bad, just gentle), I let them, Lilly fell asleep with her claws lightly gripping my forearm today, it was so weird to be held by a sleeping cat with claws grabbing me, fabulous, heaven on earth these cats are

I'm hiding this thread from my furbabies!!!

If they are on my spot on the couch or bed or I wanna roll over in bed, I'm not shy about picking em up and relocating em, and Wesley is always quick to protest with a loud long meeeeeeeoowwwwww. I'm higher in the food chain and pay the bills, so they have to deal.

They are spoiled with lots of playtime and kitty presents, and let Wesley ride on my shoulder even though it hurts sometimes.

DH says our cats are so spoiled, they don't even know they're spoiled. They think all cats live like this.

They only drink bottled water (we had issues with our well when we first moved in, went to bottled water and, even though we now have a water filtration/osmosis/softener system in the basement, they still drink only bottled water).

I wash all of their blankies, pillowcoverings, towels, etc. every week, so they're always clean and fresh for them. It is one full load of laundry because there are lots of blankies and pillows throughout the house.

In the winter, we keep our house fairly cool. When we're home during the day, the electric blanket on the bed is never turned off. And as soon as we come home from work, the very first thing we do is go to the bedroom, plug the blanket in, and set both sides. That way, when they're finished with supper, they can go to bed in comfort. (And if, by some chance, we forget to turn the blanket on? BooBoo will come to use and start meowing to remind us that we forgot! He'll meow and then look back the hallway. That's my cue to get back there and turn that blanket on for them!)

I had put a small pillow on my desk in the computer room for Banshee, our Bridge baby, because she was always with me. After we got Mollipop and she decided to hang out with me, we put the pillow back on my desk for her. It's now called "Mollipop's Throne" and she likes being there when I'm on the computer. My desk is huge and there's plenty of room for my stuff and her stuff, too.

They have their own kitty couch and they do use it. They have their little toy box, shaped like a mouse, and BooBoo will peek his head inside the toy box, pick out a toy, grab it with his mouth and pull it out to play with it.

Years ago, when Ms. Pepe was younger, she loved to lay on top of the refrigerator. I figured she might as well be comfortable there, so I bought a large dog bed and plopped it on the fridge, so that when she jumped up, she could lay in comfort. She loved being on top of her world and it was funny to see her head sticking out looking at us when we opened the fridge door. The pillow is now on the bedroom floor b/c Pepe has a hard time jumping that far since she's gotten older. (A note of caution: If you put a large pillow on top of your fridge, make sure there's still enough room for air to circulate around the fridge coils and such. I was always moving that pillow to the front of the fridge.)

The cats are afraid of the vacuum cleaner, so right before I vacuum, we have catnip parties. I'll put a small amount of catnip in six little piles on the living room floor. The cats will each go to a pile, eat, sniff, roll around, get high and act goofy. Then they get a nice snack and I'll carry each cat back to bed. I'll close the door and they get a nap while I'm vacuuming the rest of the house. I'll wait until they awaken again and after they're moving around, then I'll go into the bedroom to vacuum and clean. (Our main catnip parties are usually on Saturday morning. DH does banking and such and while he's gone, I'll do the main vacuuming and clean the house a bit.)

Whenever I make something with canned tuna, I open one extra can. That can is divided up amongst the six cats....Mollipop has decided that tuna is a very good thing. I've done that for years. I don't know what I'm going to do if Tabitha decides she likes tuna, too. They don't get much, it's just a smidgen, but they really enjoy it.

We buy Frosty Paws for the cats...it's basically a kind of ice cream for your cats...they have it for dogs, too. I'll take a small package out of the container and divide it for the six of them. They all love it.

You get the idea. It's our cats' life; we're just here to open cans. And it's our cats' house; we just pay the mortgage.

OMG!! You too!!!

I use a shower chair in the shower. As soon as I open the curtain I towel dry my hair a little and then brush it. I have a line up of kitties demanding to be brushed. So even before I get out of the shower, each one gets a little brushing.

Hehe

Oh my...... I think my cats are so spoiled they have an identity crisis - they think they are babies

Let's go down the list:
  • For starters, my apartment is completely modified - I am sure my deposit is GONE. I have Window sills that are nailed down for safety, shelves all over my living room - huge 6ft long shelves and several smaller ones, a 6ft tall cat tree, box castles, many cat beds every where..... here, I am the rent payer.
  • Their food costs more than mine - hands down
  • when I was unemployed, they had health insurance, I didn't
  • They drink bottled water, I drink filtered tap
  • their canned food is blended in their own smoothie maker - that's right, I bought it for this purpose only; and they only eat it just so
  • the amount of canned food they eat is measured by weight in their own electronic scale
  • they all eat different foods........ which brings me to Lucky's high tech feeding station: A Wooden cat furniture with microchip pet door that opens only for her
  • They have a leave-in vet-tech pet sitter for when I travel, which is often.... She pretty much takes my paycheck with her
  • Bugsy can go off food sometimes, and a lot of times (more often than not) get spoon fed
  • each one has their favorite places and routines to eat, Hope for example has her little happy dance, and I have to watch and cheer her up until she is all done so she starts eating
They are spoiled for sure......... but I wouldn't have any other way - love seeing their personality shining through!

LOVE this thread!

We just had a bbq for supper. Our cats are SO spoiled that we both not only made sure to save them some chicken & steak, Dana cut it all up into little bite sized pieces for them!
I'm laughing, because a lot of things that didn't even occur to me to be "spoiling" are listed in this thread.

Having a completely modified home...
Having cat beds and vertical space everywhere...
Washing their beds and blankets weekly....
Keeping their litter boxes clean...
Keeping their water bowls clean and changed daily...
Giving them bottled water instead of tap water...
Spending more on their needs than ours...
Never closing any doors (other than the front door!)...
Including them in the BBQ and cutting up their food for them...

They've got me so well trained I don't even KNOW I'm spoiling them!
