Allergies/colds

I've never had a cat before that seemed affected by either. But the little guy I just brought home from the shelter has been sneezing constantly. I tried a totally different type of litter, and cleaned and dusted the whole place, especially his hiding places. This has been going on for 5 days. I take him to the vet next week, but in the meantime....any other suggestions?

Thanks!

It is not unusual for this to happen. They pick up a URI (upper respiratory infection) quite often at the shelters. He will need an antibiotic to clear it up and the sooner the better would be best.

I would have a vet visit as well just to put your mind at ease. My Jack who's 4 had a URI earlier this year, and the poor baby was so miserable with it until he had his shot

Thanks for the responses. It's day six and he's definitely sneezing a lot less. Vet tonight anyway to make sure.

That's good to hear.

I know my vet said their just like the common colds we get so they usually just run their course, but Jack was breathing through his mouth and sounded like he was having problems breathing so he needed that bit extra help
