1) I think Amazons are some of the most beautiful and intelligent birds, this guy is no exception.

2) You couldn't pay me to own one. After doing exotic bird rescue for years I learned one thing: Amazons can get one heck of a nasty streak once they hit sexual maturity and every time they are in the mood to breed.

3) $3000 is a grossly inflated for any parrot unless its one of the large macaws or cockatoos.

4) This dude is impressively calm and sweet for a pet store bird. I do love pet stores that understand that these creatures need lots of mental stimulation and interaction.

I agree that is way overpriced. Then again, what pet isn't overpriced in a pet store? They were selling kittens for $400. I can get 100 cats free at any given time!

This particular place is excellent with birds and fish. Most times the larger birds are not caged. But he had a HUGE cage with lots to do in it. He didn't make a sound the whole time I was there but he got very excited when I went to talk to him.

I am usually cautious around large birds (those beaks make me nervous) but he was the only one that didn't go for my finger when I put it up to the cage.

Aside from one terminally ill male, all my iguanas were spayed females, all were rescues.

I want to eventually adopt an older iguana. I dont have the time, money or place for one now. Too many people who dont do their research and all they see are 6in baby lizards at the pet shop for $20.

I had an iguana about 11-12 years ago. He was a sweetie pie. About 4 feet long. He got me with his tail when I first got him, but he was nervous because he was abused before I got him.

Animals certainly require research. I spent a couple months researching fish before I even got my 10 gallon tank with 2 gouramis.

I used to think I wanted an African Gray. I started with a cockatiel and it turns out I am really not a bird person. I used to work with a guy who had an African Gray. When he first got him he kept him on a stand next to the T.V. He watched a lot of Richard Pryor videos so you can imagine what his vocabulary was like. It was very embarrassing when parents or in-laws came to visit but they got used to it.
