I thought it'd be cute to have a little pictorial saga of introductions between Monet and Picasso.
Picasso came home on Saturday around 1pm. Monet was SHOCKED to see a kitten in the crate and he immediately growled, hiss and snarled. Since Picasso was ill, he didn't get to hear her through the door much. He, however, HATED her scent on me and he would growl and hiss and swat at me if I had her scent on me and approached him. Our bond did not break him away from me at night when it's time for bed, however. he slept in his spot between my legs.
Sunday, Picasso was still ill, and I took her to the vet for a virus treatment. She stayed overnight. By the end of the night, Monet was his old self. One would think Picasso's gone for good, but he had a rude slap in the face when I brought her home Monday evening. He was like "What the HELL?! I thought I got RID of you!!"
By Monday night, Monet became more tolerable of Picasso's scent on me. He slowly allowed me to play with him and pet him. I cant pick him up at this point still. He insisted on our nightly snuggles still!
Tuesday morning, he was pretty much his normal self. Occasional growl when he catches scent of Picasso, as if he remembered she was here. Tonight was the first time I really let Picasso out to see Monet and vise versa (they've glimpsed each other, but not long enough). Below is the pictures from their meeting.
Thus far, Monet isn't growling as much, becoming more curious. He allowed distractions to pull his gaze from her. I think he looked pretty relaxed on the couch.
Here Monet was watching her play, I thought he was going to join her by the look on his face, but it'd be too soon.
Now I won't let them be alone without my close supervision. Monet appeared a bit tensed here with some growling. He did manage to give a swat at Picasso. She braced herself after it.. and when Monet took a step closer, she bolted!
So far, I think the introduction is going very well! My main thing is that I need to make sure Monet is not near the bathroom door when I open it for Picasso WILL bolt out of it and she's quick!
Monet never once fluffed his tail, arched his back or ran after her (as of this point!). Picasso did fluff her tail once when he hissed at her. I guess she does have better hearing that I thought after all!
After I put Picasso away, Monet allows me to pet and kiss him (not always, but most of the time!), whereas the last few days he'd hiss and growl at me. This is a great sign!
I will keep this thread posted, with stories and/or pics.
