I just did nail trimming, and boy does she hate that! Spencer and Abby don't mind it. I just hold them next to me, gently, and trim away. But Katie...what a scrapper! I had to pin her between me and the side of the couch and practically squash her with my body to hold her still.

I didn't get her nails as short as I would have liked, but there is always tomorrow!

I hear you! It takes two of us to trim Mollipop's claws. I hold her (tightly) while DH does the trimming. The other night we managed to get 9 claws done, but she got too squirmy, so we had to let one of the dewclaws alone. We got that one last night....she was not amused. I swear you can hear that girl keening on Pluto!

Tabitha has some major claw action going on, too, for such a little kitten. She really needs to have a trim, but we're afraid to try it yet. But those are some serious claws on that girl.

I'm sure Katie has forgiven you by now....until the next time.

I have to trim Monet's claws when he's asleep on the couch, then he doesn't mind me lifting and trimming. If I do it when he's awake, there's a battle, but I can usually do it

That's how l do it with Jack and Sophie. Jack's no problem, but Sophie you would think l was hurting her by her yells
I have to hide the scissors as l bring them out the drawer because they know their kept there!

Rosie, well she's a tortie so nuff said, l don't even think about trimming hers

When I first got Abby she was 4 months old. She hated getting her nails trimmed and the only way I could do it is when she was sound asleep. She still doesn't like it much, but at least she hold still while I do it. Spencer is another Chynna
who thinks it's a day at the spa. Pedicure and massage!

Katie doesn't scream. In fact other than a few soft meeps and squeaks, she just wiggles to get away. Her meows, if that is what you want to call the sound she makes, are so soft you can hardly hear them.

Sophie's isn't a meow either. All your hear of her is long "mmmmmMMMMMM!!!!" with her mouth shut getting louder and louder inbetween breaths. You know that huffy "I hate this!!" sound

Aww, Katie will get over it. Well I'm sure she's already over it. I'm lucky that Genever is usually pretty cool about nail trimming. I can play with her paws all I want, and when it's trimming time, then she's not as calm, but I can usually get all of them done without too much hassle. Dorothy, on the other hand, I'll sneak a clip in every now and then. I just cannot hold that lady. And if BF is holding her and I'm trimming, she still squirms and squeaks and sounds so pitiful, we still don't usually get them all done at once.

I'm so lucky that Simba Yim is perfectly fine with me clipping his nails, cleaning his ears, etc.

I've heard good things about this product! (It comes in different sizes at varying prices)

Katie might dislike being pinned against the couch more than the actual nail-clipping?

It's a combination of both actually. She isn't much into being held. In bed she likes to be loved on, but she doesn't sit still either. She is constantly in motion when I am petting her.

If I catch her when she is just waking up, I can usually pick her up and hold her, if I'm standing still, for a total of about 30 seconds before she tries to wiggle free.

Buddy is very compliant - he just gets impatient and starts to wiggle a lot.
My eyes aren't as good, as they once were, to see those little veins, so when he starts to wiggle a lot, I give it up - like you say, there's always another day.

Yesterday I was successful in getting 3 out of the four sets, YEA!!

Yes, picking the right time is key.

I haven't even attempted the former feral born, or the big daddy (the vet does his).

Oh, the joys of trimming nails
!

I feel like I am always trimming someone's nails. If I'm not doing one of my own, I am most certainly clipping a pet's nails at work. Tons of clients bring their pets in for nail trimming. For me, the cost of having it done outside of my home is a deterrent, but we get a lot of clients who would rather pay us to upset their pets than do it themselves. And, even though I'd gripe about the cost, who could blame them?! Cutting nails is not fun...for anyone. But, it is one of the necessary evils of pet ownership. Sigh.

I do my cats' nails once a month and the dogs' nails about ever six weeks. Then there is the bird (a cockatiel) who gets his done on an as needed basis along with the little critters (a Syrian hamster, a Robo hamster, and two gerbils). The bird and the small furries usually wind up being done about every 2-3 months -- I get on it when I notice Duncan's wings need to be clipped. All in all, I can get through everyone. But, they don't all make it easy. Cassidy is an angel about having her claws trimmed. She just sits in place and doesn't try to wiggle or squirm. Occasionally, she'll emit a small meow, but she really is very easy to take care of. Delaney and Emory can be a bit more trying. Both will fuss, meow, and growl. But, since I've started using the cat bag for them, I've not gotten bitten or scratched. They never aimed to hurt me, but they did let me know that they weren't pleased. Finnegan is another story altogether. He's fickle -- sometimes he sits and lets me clip his nails and other times he throws a fit. It's just the Finny way. But, all in all, my dogs are the worst when it comes to trimming nails. Madeline got nicked by a vet when she was young and is now forever scarred emotionally. She keeps her nails short by chewing on them, but the only way for me to clip them is to swaddle her in a blanket and have someone else get her nails. Mackenzie is worse as she will bite, but, with a treat in front of her face, we usually get through it no worse for the wear. My bird is terrible when it comes to wing and nail trims. He has tantrums that cause me to lose my hearing for a day or two after the fact. But, I know he's dramatic going into it. The little ones are easy -- two minutes and they're all done. If they could all be that simple...

I'm sure Katie has forgiven you and moved on by now. Hopefully, in time, she'll become more accustomed to having her nails trimmed and will be less squirmy. But, if not, I can't recommend the cat bags enough. They help for the wiggly ones, for sure. And, in the meantime, relish the fact that Abby and Spencer are well behaved when it comes to grooming. You're certainly a good meowmy and Katie knows that. Good luck on round two (whenever that is)! Speaking of which, my kitties are due this weekend for nail clipping. It should be fun. Yeah, right
.
