Sami update. Finally!

Went to get her today. The vet showed us her bowel movement, which was completely formed. She was upbeat and SUPER chatty and didn't even fight to go in the carrier!

They gave us some of that pancreatic powder ($85 for a small container!!) that she has to be on for the rest of her life, apparently. Buddy and Parker haven't bothered her and there's been no hissing or anything.

She desperately needs a bath though. I am going to wait until tomorrow though, to give her time to settle in but she has dried diarrhea on her legs and tail that they couldn't bother to clean off while she was there.

Hoping she puts some weight back on and stays healthy for a long while. No more long stays at the vet! On the plus side, my vet didn't charge for a single thing!! (aside from the powder).

Bah, the good news was short lived. We need to get that powder into her, only now, she is refusing to eat. She's been home almost 24 hrs and hasn't eaten anymore than a teaspoon of food. She also bit my roommate when she tried to clip Sami's nails. She never minded having it done before.
Sami is not nearly as lively as she was when she came home yesterday. She doesn't go to the kitchen for food. In fact, she hasn't left the living room at all today. I just don't understand.

Oh no, not the news I wanted to hear! Poor Sami, poor you.

She was on a drip, right? Is she dehydrated? Did you call the vet?

She's not dehydrated. She is still drinking and not peeing any more than usual. She just doesn't seem hungry. I have a wide selection of food here, so I will try a few others to see if she just wants something different.
The vet said she was eating Friskies there and seemed to like that the best but I think I only have fish flavors left and she said no fish at all for Sami.

I had to bath her and she was not too happy about it, so maybe she just needs a bit of time to settle back into the routine around here. It has been almost a month since she's been home. So I think I will give her until tomorrow evening and if she still isn't eating anything, I will call the vet. She did have another perfect BM today though!

Keeping my fingers crossed!

What about dry food? will she eat dry food?
What Friskies was she eating there?
Honey, my honest opinion is that anything she eats is better than NOTHING. She is 18.... Please don't let go hungry.... If all she eats is fish flavored food, feed fish flavored food, but feed her...
Do you have the food she was eating there? They sell Friskies at CVS and other 24hr places, do they not? Can you get it tonight instead of waiting 'til tomorrow?

The vet said not to give her ANY dry food or anything with fish in it. She didn't say why though. I'm not really familiar with pancreatic problems in cats. (??)

I found some chunky Friskies in the back of the cupboard today, I cut it up into tiny pieces and she ate almost all of it! She is VERY finicky though and I know she can smell the powder in the food, which seems to put her off a bit. I'm also wondering if she just needed some time to adjust being home. My goodness though, she looks absolutely ragged. She didn't groom herself at all after he bath, so her fur looks terrible and she is SO thin. Still kind of weak and walks funny. I am guessing its from being so underweight though. I read the powder should help her put weight back on...I just hope its soon.

Watching her litter box habits and so far everything is looking good. She had a nice big pee today that looked good and still formed BM. It's time to feed the babies now, so here's hoping she eats well again...

I would buy a whole bunch of Friskies then... I would also ask the vet what is worst: No fish/no dry food or no food at all for a while. The reason why I say that is because there will be a time where the vet will not be available and you might have to choose the lesser of 2 evils.
IMHO Food will be the lesser of 2 evils. I am not saying fish over and over again - but you might want to ask if 1-2 meals will hurt until you get to the vet or until she eats again/ until you get proper food, etc.
Life isn't perfect, and sometimes we just have to make choices that aren't perfect either - but are the best choices for the situation in hands.... If ALL you have is fish, then fish it is.
(I know you found Friskies in the cupboard, BTW - I am just saying you might want to ask for next time )

I think I can postpone taking her back for now. She ate a whole bowl of food. In fact, she almost ran me down to get it!!

I was hoping she'd eat some better food, but yeah you're right, any food is good at this point. I am still having trouble getting Buddy to eat better too, so I will be stocking up on Friskies regardless.

I will call and ask if it will be ok to give her some dry food or fishy stuff in a pinch. But everything is fine for now at least.

Despite using the powder, Sami didn't eat hardly anything at all day and just had diarrhea. I'm getting the feeling she just isn't going to get better...
